Dua Lipa Treats Glastonbury to Live Debut of "Falling Forever"

Dua Lipa returned to Glastonbury, this time as a headliner, with a new song, a handsome movie star, and a hot single.

And if you ask her, it was all manifested.

On Friday, June 28, she told the maddening crowd at Worthy Farm she planned this exact same dream to come true.

“I said I wanted to headline the Pyramid Stage on a Friday night, because then I knew I could party for the next two days” the 28-year-old singer and dancer told them.

The show was broken up into four different sets, each with poppy hits.

Lipa kicked off the show with "Training Season," the second single from her third LP, Radical Optimism.

A few things are noticeable right away. Her dancing is tight, the set is modern and colorful, maybe things are a little too-choreographed, and her belts are super extra.

The first set concluded with the TikTok fave, "Levitating" from 2020's Grammy-winning smash Future Nostalgia.

The trippy video graphics mixed with generous fireworks were a nice, but unnecessary touch because Dua can dance and she's pleasant to soak in.

The live debut, "Falling Forever," also comes from Radical Optimism, which her tour is also called.

Co-written by Ian Kirkpatrick who also co-wrote "Don't Start Now" and "New Rules" with the singer, it seems like another inoffensive club banger.

If it's released as a single, it would be the third from the LP, and fodder to help promote a rumored forthcoming North American Tour.

Set two included "Be The One," the call-and-response with the audience similarly to what she did at her 2018 performance at the gigantic festival, but now as the headliner, so less beggy.

She also welcomed Tame Impala's Kevin Parker on stage with her in that set. The two sung and danced to "The Less I Know The Better."

In a recent interview with the Radio Times, the London native said she learned about this festival milestone a while back, but kept her lipas sealed.

"I got asked to headline in November 2022. I’m very good at keeping secrets, and it’s also been the best secret, so I’ve kept it very happily. I just got the email, 'You’ve been offered to headline Glasto on Friday night,'" she said.

During her encore, Parker returned to join her for "Houdini," the lead single from Radical Optimism.

Dua Lipa is on the road playing a quartet of European festivals this month.

Then she has a suspiciously large chunk of her fall empty on her schedule with only a pair of Texan dates in October. Could this North American Tour take place in September and end in Texas?

Tickets to her current tour are available on her website. Grab tickets while you can.
