Ice Spice Launches Y2K! Tour in Washington, DC

Ice Spice is the latest woman in hip-hop to launch a world tour, kicking off the Y2K! trek last night in Washington, DC. Going all out in support of her just-released debut album, rap’s newest princess put on a sensational show complete with four live debuts, a handful of covers, and more.

Ice Spice’s first solo album, Y2K!, came out only days ago, so you can bet she’s celebrating this milestone in style. The GRAMMY nominee started her Washington, DC, setlist with live debuts of “Popa” and “Plenty Sun,” before launching into new songs like “Oh Shhh,” “Gimmie a Light,” and “Bitch I’m Packin’.” During the last number, she even walked through the crowd area and gave fans the chance to lock hands with a modern rap icon.

And of course, the show wouldn’t be complete without “Barbie World,” the remixed take on a classic that she wowed the world with last summer alongside Nicki Minaj and Aqua. While those two ladies couldn’t make it for a guest appearance, you’d best believe that Ice Spice killed the live rendition on her own. Along with more tracks from her storied career including Butterfly Ku,” “Actin a Smoochie," "Deli” and “Did it First.”

Her famously simple and relaxed rapping style is even more impressive in the flesh, as are the special effects that Ice Spice spared no expense for. After all, it’s her biggest headlining tour! The visual elements and vibrancy of the backup dancers matched the crowd’s energy throughout the night, whether Ice Spice was performing new songs or oldies from her SoundCloud era.

After a few surprises including live debuts of “BB Belt” and “TTYL,” plus a cover of “Fisherrr,” Ice Spice helped wind down the night with her biggest viral hits. The crass-yet-classic hit “Think U the Shit (Fart)” served as her finale song, marking the end of the beginning. Of what, exactly? One of the best hip-hop tours of 2024, of course. Ice Spice still has plenty of stops to make on the Y2K! Tour, and you can now buy tickets for the remaining dates.
