Meet Grateful Don and the Wharf Rats

Continuing our exploration of Dead & Company’s Las Vegas run at Sphere, let’s catch up with Grateful Don, aka Don Bryant, the legendary Shakedown Street vendor and co-founder of the Wharf Rats, a community of clean and sober Deadheads (yep) who have been supporting each other at shows since the mid-1980s. They now number in the thousands and span the globe, thanks to folks like Don recognizing the need for people who love the music and their sobriety to stick together. Dig how Don and the Rats find “traction in an otherwise slippery environment” and keep on truckin... one show at a time.
