Back in May, on the afternoon before the first Dead & Company show at Sphere in Las Vegas, we took a ride off the Strip to the Tuscany—or rather, the parking lot next to the Tuscany—to see how the vendor collective/traveling circus known to Heads as Shakedown Street was shaping up. These folks are used to traveling on tour with the band, but here were settling in for the run of 24 shows at Sphere, since expanded to 30. In addition to being the first Shakedown “residency,” it was also permitted (!) and fenced in, with security—all new weirdnesses to the community, but everyone was having a good time with it and had plenty of stories to share. Due to the encroaching summer heat, the whole scene has been moved indoors upstairs at the Tuscany, but here you can get a taste of the history and the vibes, along with what might be next for some of these folks once the Dead & Co Sphere run concludes in August. Check it out!
We'll be at the res wrap on August 10, so stay tuned!
