East Bay punk rock band Rancid launched their nationwide From Boston To Berkeley co-headlining tour with the Dropkick Murphys. Surprisingly, since both bands have dominated the punk scene for years, the three month-long treck marks the first time both bands have ever toured together.

The legendary lineup kicked off with openers The Bouncing Souls and Jake Burns of Stiff Little Fingers for From Boston To Berkeley Tour dates through August 9th. The Selecter and Kevin Seconds of 7 Seconds will open shows starting August 11 through the tour’s wrap in Southern California on August 26.

Rancid's 20-song setlist at Huntington Bank Pavilion in Chicago was packed with classics like "Roots Radical", "Journey to the end of the East Bay", "Maxwell Murder", "Fall Back Down", "Timebomb", and "Ruby Soho". The band also performed "Old Friend" with Kevin Bivona of The Interrupters on keyboard. Their set then concluded with tracks from their 1995 release ...And Out Come the Wolves.

Dropkick Murphys kicked off their Chicago set with "The Lonesome Boatman" from their latest release 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory. Their 15-song setlist was followed by an encore featuring a slew of covers together with Rancid, including Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues", The Ramones' "Cretin Hop", Sham69's "If the Kids are United", and "I Fought the Law" by The Crickets.

Both bands are set to wrap up the tour at Punk's Not Dead festival in San Bernardino, California at the Glen Helen Festival Grounds. With a punk-packed lineup including iconic groups like The Adicts, Buzzcocks, The Casualties, The Unseen, Reagan Youth and more, it's very clear that the punk scene (and demand for it) is very far from being dead.
