Setlist History: Björk Kicks Off First Tour Ever in 1993

In this day and age, we know Björk as a genre-blurring, musical icon. Her voice is so distinct and unmatched, that it may as well be copyright by nature. The 56-year-old Icelandic princess we know and love today was born to do what she does. She began her musical career at age 11 and gained international recognition way before jumpstarting her solo career back when she was in the band the Sugarcubes. Their 1987 single "Birthday" was a favorite among music critics both in the UK and the US.

After the band broke up in 1992, Björk wasted no time. She immediately released Debut, which was technically her second full-length album if you count her 1977 self-titled that she released as an 11-year-old. Debut featured instant hits. Where would we be without singles like "Human Behavior" and "Venus As a Boy"?

The album was released on July 5th, 1993, and on August 19th, 1993, exactly 25 years ago, she embarked on her first tour as a solo musician. The show kicked off in London at The Forum where she played several of the album's cuts live for the very first time. Iconic tracks like "Human Behavior," "One Day," "Venus As a Boy," "Come to Me," "The Anchor Song," "Crying," "Violent Happy," and "Big Time Sensuality."

She also sang Icelandic song "Stígðu Mig," a cut she performed at that show only then and never again, and her popular cover of Dinah Shore's "Like Someone in Love," which she rarely performs; the last time being in 1999. Check out the full, 13-song setlist from that historic night below.

Bjork

The tour lasted almost a year, well into 1994. Björk has since put out a multitude of influential music, music videos and albums, the latest being 2017's acclaimed Utopia. Her vocal capabilities have yet to falter, and her renowned fashion sense is as eclectic and quirky as ever.

The art-pop icon just announced her next album, Fossora, for a Fall 2022 release.
