Weezer + Pixies' Wrap Their Summer Tour

Last night (August 12), Weezer and Pixies wrapped their 29-date Summer tour in Phoenix, Arizona. The rock veterans traveled from the East Coast to the West Coast's "Pacific Daydream" for their nostalgic rock co-headlining journey. The band brought along The Wombats for the early dates of the tour and then the electro-pop duo, Sleigh Bells took over from July 17th on.

The melding of alt-rock royalty made this one of summer's most anticipated treks. Both bands brought extensive setlists that reached all corners of their careers. We heard all our favorites, all the classics, and various tracks from their most recent projects: Weezer's 2017 Pacific Daydream and Pixies 2016 Head Carrier.

The Pixies took the stage first with an averaged 24-track setlist. They pulled from all six of their studio albums and gave the crowds precisely what they wanted while shaking up the setlist each night. Their sets strung all their songs together with each track getting special attention whether it was shredding vocals, guitar, or stage presence. They had a new setlist each night but it evolved around the same songs. They most often closed their set with their 1988 track "Vamos" or "Debaser," and consistently covered Neil Young's "Winterlong" every night. Check out their final setlist from this tour below:

Weezer then followed, with a "blast from the past" inspired performance. The band emerged in front of a stage designed to look like a garage, taking them back to their roots as they played half of their self-titled debut record (The Blue Album), treating die-hards to favorites such as “Undone-The Sweater Song” and “My Name Is Jones.” They played a very similar setlist each night, that consisted of 20-songs, their top-streaming rendition of Toto’s “Africa,” and a 2-track encore that closed out every night with "Say It A'int So." Pixies and Weezer have left another lasting impression on their returning rock fans while showing the kids how a proper rock show is done. Their summer trek, and nostalgic rock tribute down memory lane, is one we wish never had to end.
