At 72, Patti Smith remains one of the fiercest forces in punk. Consumed by wanderlust, she is constantly touring with her legendary four piece band... and this weekend was no different!

The punk poet and Her Band are currently hitting up the festival circuit in France. This past weekend, August 16 and 17, they made pit stops at Festival Musicalarue in Luxey and Festival Paredes de Coura in Oporto, Portugal.

Fronted by Smith, the rest of Her Band features Lenny Kaye (guitar), Jackson Smith (guitar), Tony Shanahan (bass, keys) and Jay Dee Daughtry (drums). They've been playing a myriad of songs from an early iteration of the Band– back when they were the Patti Smith GROUP with a slightly different lineup– including '70s favorites "Pissing in a River," "Because the Night" and "Dancing Barefoot."

Always one to pay homage to her predecessors, peers and inspiration, Smith will oftentimes break out a cover of Bob Dylan's "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall," Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side" or The Jimi Hendrix Experience's "Are You Experienced?" at her shows. Other notable covers include Midnight Oil's "Beds are Burning" and Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush."

August 16 – Luxe, France

Smith and Co. headlined the Festival Musicalrue's 30th anniversary celebration on Friday, highlighting songs like "Beneath the Southern Cross," "Gloria" and "People Have the Power," as well as that sweet Rolling Stones and Lou Reed mashup, "I'm Free/Walk on the Wild Side."

August 17 – Oporto, Portugal

Patti Smith and Her Band ROCKED Paredes de Coura the next day, adding "Redondo Beach" to the setlist!

She walked on stage and announced, "Hello everybody! Glad to be back!" before getting right into "People Have the Power." Watch:
