From the steamy confessions of "Summer so hot" to her no-filter flak on "People I Don't Like," UPSAHL has never been one to shy away from sharing. And with a new album on the horizon, a headlining tour this Fall and a summer full of European festival stops, it seems she can't wait to give the fans more. After delving into her Marquee Memories at the Setlist.fm studio, the Phoenix born pop star gave us a full tour of her telephone. Watch our interview with UPSAHL below for a deep dive into her song-writing necessities, Camera Roll highlights and playlist practices.
Home Screen Chaos
"My relationship with my phone, I would argue it's very toxic. I'm not super organized. There is absolutely no method to the madness here. Most used apps would be my Voice Memo app, for sure... If I didn't have this, I don't think I would have a career... I forget melodies so easily."
On The Clock
"This is new, it's called Rhymers Block. You can click on any word and it feeds you rhymes...so this is what I've been writing all of my songs on, actually. Instagram, I think is my favorite. I love my Explore page on here, lots of fun makeup ideas, just cool, like visuals. I'm always just sort of, like saving stuff. It's like a personalized Pinterest board."
Spotify Daughter or Apple Music Son?
"I am a Spotify girlie, but one time I wanted to make a playlist for a boy who was only on Apple Music and so I also, like, had to download and pay for Apple Music, just for this. That was during my down bad era, but it was a great playlist. I'll share it one day. My playlists are, like, very chaotic, and there's no real organization to them, except there's this one, which I made when I was on tour in Europe, and it's just a bunch of, like, European house music. This is actually probably my best playlist."
The Wind Beneath My Wingstop
"My Postmate history right now is probably crazy. Ramen, Chipotle, Coffee, some Thai, Wingstop. Come on, get out of here. I tried it for the first time, like June 4, and my life has forever changed."
