Metallica Play The Black Album at Louder Than Life Festival

In honor of the 30th anniversary of The Black Album, Metallica performed the release in it's entirety at Louder Than Life Festival on Sunday, September 26. The metal icons headlined on Friday (the first day of the festival) and the final day of the event at Highland Festival Grounds' Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. Their first set on Friday did not include any songs from The Black Album. See the setlist from Friday below:

Metallica's fifth studio release, The Black Album, originally dropped on August 12, 1991. Prior to the Louder Than Life set, Metallica had not performed the album in its entirety since 2012. Metallica kicked off their Sunday performance with “Hardwired,” “The Four Horseman,” and “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)." Following the tracks, The Black Album was performed in reverse order as the tracklist on the record, with "The Struggle Within" opening the set and "Enter Sandman" played last. The band followed up with a 2-song encore consisting of "Blackened" and "Creeping Death" (first time as a set closer).
