The Monkees Live Debut Two Songs During Farewell Tour Kickoff

On the evening of Friday, September 10, The Monkees (Micky Dolenz and Michael Nesmith) kicked off their rescheduled Farewell Tour in Spokane, Washington at the First Interstate Center for the Arts. The pair delivered a career-spanning 31-song setlist, divided into two sets. While they certainly played all the hits and fan favorites, each set had an unexpected live debut - "Love Is Only Sleeping" in the first half, a track from their 1967 album Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd. The second set of the night saw the first-ever live performance of "While I Cry" from The Monkees 1969 album Instant Replay. Check out some footage of "While I Cry" from 9/12 show in Portland (with a bit of storytelling in the beginning):

The band closed their two-song encore with their most-performed song to date, their ubiquitous cover of Neil Diamond's "I'm a Believer."
