The Mars Volta Play First Show Since 2012

Last night (September 22) in Dallas, Texas, The Mars Volta hit the stage at 9:20PM to play their first show in over a decade. Their last show before hiatus was at HMV Forum in London on July 15, 2012 as the last show on the Noctourniquet Tour. See that setlist here.

The Mars Volta opened their 2-hour show with the live debut of "Vicarious Atonement" off their 2006 album Amputechture.

Several of the songs in the set had not been performed since the Octahedron tour in 2010, their #1 most-performed song to date "Roulette Dares" being the first.

Another not-since-2010 track was "Eriatarka" from the band's debut studio album, De-Loused in the Comatorium.

In concurrence with kicking off this much-anticipated tour, The Mars Volta released their first album in a decade last week (September 16). Four songs into the show they live debuted "Graveyard Love" from the self-titled album, one of the two new tracks that made it into the set.

Several more resurrected songs made up the middle of the set, including three songs from their 2005 album Frances The Mute - "L'Via L'Viaquez" "Cynus...Vismund Cygnus" and "The Widow" and two more from De-Loused, "Drunkship of Lanterns" and "Cicatriz ESP."

"Blacklight Shine" from the new album was the final live debut of evening. See some fan footage and the full setlist from opening night below:
