Weezer Plays Secret LA Show as Goat Punishment

Monday night (September 19) at The Troubadour in West Hollywood, California was a... unique night for Weezer fans who were in the know. The iconic LA venue announced the show last Thursday and it sold out in a matter of hours.

It was not a typical show, as you might have guessed from the pseudonym they performed under (Goat Punishment). Frontman Rivers Cuomo opened the 90-minute set by calling the night a "open rehearsal" - then proceeded to live debut seven songs from SZNZ: Winter, due for release this December. No phones were allowed in the venue, so no footage has surfaced yet. Weezer also performed "What Happens After You" from SZNZ: Autumn, dropping this Thursday.

They pulled out the Red Album's "Greatest Man That Ever Lived" for the first time since 2014, as well as a few of their best-known hits - "Undone: The Sweater Song" and "Say It Ain't So." They brought a TikTok trend to life by covering Wheatus' "Teenage Dirtbag."

For the two-song encore they repeated "Basketball" and "What Happens After You."
