boygenius Debuts "Afraid of Heights" in Boston

Supergroup boygenius is currently on their international tour, titled simply The Tour. The trio, comprised of singer/songwriters Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus, have been entertaining crowds with selections from their Boygenius EP and debut album The Record.

You would think with The Record just releasing in March that would be it for new music for the year, but you’d be wrong. At their September 26 show at Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway, the band debuted another new song. “Afraid of Heights” is set to appear on their newly announced EP, titled The Rest, set to release on October 13.

The rest of the set featured much of the band’s established songs, including singles “$20,” “Emily I’m Sorry,” “True Blue” and “Not Strong Enough,” which closed the main set. There was also a segment of the show dedicated to songs from each of the members’ solo catalogs: Lucy’s “Please Stay,” Julien’s “Flavor” and Phoebe’s “Graceland Too.” The two song encore was “Ketchum, ID” and “Salt in the Wound.”

The band had previously played “Black Hole,” the first song from The Rest, at the September 25 show at the same venue. This corresponded with the announcement of the new EP.
