Remi Wolf has a lot of “Big iDEAS” for her music career, and they all came to fruition at her Santa Barbara show! The rising pop-soul singer is celebrating her just-released sophomore album, Big Ideas, and treated the crowd to live debuts, extended numbers, a cover and more.
Wolf has come a long way from her time as an American Idol contestant in 2014, or even recording songs in her bedroom a few short years ago. She’s now embarking on her own well-deserved headlining tour, and she kicked things off with a bang in Santa Barbara. The audience witnessed live debuts of new songs off Big Ideas — including “Cherries & Cream,” “Kangaroo,” and “Frog Rock” — plus some unexpected surprises.
The longtime fans were satisfied too, as she pulled out favorites from her EPs including “Anthony Kiedis,” “Disco Man,” and “Sexy Villain.” However, the main focus was her new record, which was released in July. Fans had a blast with the improvisational track “c**t song” and a cover of “Life is a Highway” by country band Rascal Flatts, further proving Wolf’s vast musical diversity. And when more live debuts of “Motorcycle” and “Slay B***h” came along, people were more than ready to sing along.
The 20-song setlist was completely unpredictable, filled with extended songs, reprises, and more live debuts than people knew what to do with. It’s just a testament to Remi Wolf’s talent as an artist and performer, and it’s no surprise that she’s climbing the charts with Big Ideas. The New York Times wrote that Wolf turns the bedroom pop genre into "hypercolored explosions,” and we couldn’t agree more. From her vivid stage lights to her catchy choruses that bring out the light in every listener, she’s a beacon of hope and breath of fresh air for any music lover.
After you’ve listened to her new record from start to finish, don’t forget to grab your tickets for this up-and-coming soul singer. See Remi Wolf’s full Santa Barbara setlist here.
