Garbage is officially back on the road, and not without some standout moments for the audience. The band has performed a handful of live debuts; along with standouts you haven’t heard in years!
Fresh off their opening slot for My Chemical Romance last month, the band has launched a headlining trek in celebration of their eighth album, Let All That We Imagine Be the Light. At the September 3rd stop in Orlando, they treated fans to live debuts of “Hold,” “Chinese Fire Horse,” and “The Day That I Met God.” The crowd also got to hear “Not My Idea” for the first time in nearly a decade and “Parade” after six years off the setlist.
Along with more Garbage classics including “I Think I’m Paranoid,” “Wolves,” and “Godhead,” it was an incredible night for those in attendance. The band has a lot to celebrate — from the 30th anniversary of their self-titled debut album to their just-released new record that marks their first in four years. And whether you were singing along to “Stupid Girl” in full Shirley Manson attire or just learned about them through MCR, all had a blast at the Orlando show.
“Going into making this record, I was determined to find a more hopeful, uplifting world to immerse myself in,” Garbage frontwoman Manson said about the new record. “The title of the album, Let All That We Imagine Be The Light is the perfect descriptor for this new record as a whole. When things feel dark it feels imperative to seek out forces that are light, positive and beautiful in the world. It almost feels like a matter of life and death. A strategy for survival”.
It’s a beautiful sentiment to share with fans in 2025… and you know what’s equally powerful? Live music. Garbage may be a Grammy-nominated group who have sold millions of records, but they’ll never forget their underground roots.
