Haim Kicked Off I Quit Tour with Nine Live Debuts

The quitting (and the foul weather) started in Philly and continued on the east coast.

On Thursday (9/4), HAIM launched their fourth headlining tour at the TD Pavilion at the Mann in Philadelphia in support of their fourth album, I Quit.

The beloved sisters from the San Fernando Valley opened with a set chock-full of live debuts from their latest LP, released this June. The newbies included “Gone,” “All Over Me,” “Cry,” “Spinning,” “Lucky Stars,” “Million Years,” “Love You Right,” “The Farm,” and “Now It’s Time”

The TD Pavilion is one of those open-air amphitheater from the '70s you've probably seen lots of shows at. This one holds about 14,000 between the covered pavilion seating and the lawn.

Nestled nicely near Philly's Center City, the venue sits between the Philadelphia Zoo and the Please Touch Museum.

As they have been doing for years, Danielle Haim sang lead vocals and played guitar, and also moving to drums for certain tunes. Este Haim played bass served vocals and excellent bass faces. And Alana Haim played rhythm guitar, keyboards, percussion, and vocals.

While it might look like it was a full show from the setlist at 21 tracks, the encore was cut short because of lightning in the area, which sent the fans slogging home in the rain and kept “Now I’m in It” and “Down to Be Wrong” from being rocked.

One of the new things the trio are doing on this tour is spotlighting a fan during the lead single of I Quit, "Relationships."

Were they inspired a tad by the disaster Coldplay found itself in earlier this summer? Perhaps.

So to avoid that while in Philly, instead of focusing on a couple who may or may not have been cheating, the camera caught their mom boogying to the tune that already has over 2.3 million views on YouTube.

A few days later when they were in Toronto, the “Relationships girls” were Leandra Earl and Kylie Miller of The Beaches. See, safe choices. No one loses their jobs.

Another bonus of Haim being on the road, is they are masters of social media thanks to having a beautiful sense of humor, ability to overact, and obviously study the œuvre with a keen eye.

While in Canada they gave their fans a glimpse of their tour bus while lip syncing to Sabrina Carpenter's "House Tour," hilariously.

Speaking of Hilarious, back in Philly Danielle showed a bit of their rustiness on opening night when during "Hallelujah," she was singing and looking at Alana and screwed up by leaping ahead a verse.

"Are those the right words" Alana asked as Danielle stared at her for help and assurance.

"I don't know," Danielle said with a laugh.

"Those are the wrong words," Este said, judgmentally.

"Those are the wrong words!" Alana told the crowd.

Danielle is free to make as many mistakes as she wants because she rocks.

"Goddamnit," Danielle said. When they restarted from the error and she finished the line the audience cheered her on.

"Help her out," Alana encouraged.

And that's why we love live music. Anything can happen.

Haim rocks Madison Square Garden tonight as their tour continues this month thru half of October where they'll have a hometown show at the Forum and wrap it all up at the beautiful Santa Barbara Bowl a little more than a month from now.
