As they say, you can always go home again…especially when you’re Pierce The Veil. The rock band closed out their “I Can’t Hear You Tour” with a hometown show at Petco Park in San Diego this past weekend. And while people have made this joke repeatedly since the start of these shows, let’s just say it was very loud given the name of the 2026 Pierce the Veil tour.
People screamed, clapped, cried and more during the sold-out SoCal finale, marking their biggest headline show to date and the final night of the most successful tour of their career. Therefore, it makes sense that they started with a little nostalgia, tearing through oldies like “Hell Above,” “Bulls in the Bronx,” and “Circles” that you probably remember them playing in much smaller venues.
But the passion has hardly faltered now that they’re serenading 20,000+ people at once. If anything, it’s only gotten stronger. That was clear as they moved through the rest of the set, balancing the songs that built their legacy with newer ones that made the audience sweat. Casual reminder: PTV took a multi-year break from recording and touring before releasing their latest record, The Jaws of Life, in 2023….
But when these new tracks finally arrived, it was like the band never went anywhere. “Pass the Nirvana,” “So Far So Fake,” and “Emergency Contact” brought their latest era to life in the stadium. Meanwhile, “I’m Low on Gas and You Need a Jacket,” “Yeah Boy and Doll Face,” and “I’d Rather Die Than Be Famous” made the whole night feel like a love letter to fans who have been screaming these lyrics since the Tumblr era. It is called I Can’t Hear You, after all.
And because this was San Diego, Pierce The Veil made sure the hometown crowd got a few special moments. “A Match Into Water” made its tour debut midway through the set, followed later by “Besitos,” which had to feel like a personal reward for every Selfish Machines enthusiast in the crowd. Add in snippets of “She Makes Dirty Words Sound Pretty” and “I Don’t Care If You’re Contagious,” and suddenly Petco Park lit up with the sounds of thousands of elder emos reliving their past. We love this for them.
The encore only pushed things further. Julia Wolf joined the band for “Hold On Till May,” already one of Pierce The Veil’s most sentimental songs and somehow even more devastating given the circumstances. Some songs are popular because they’re catchy, while others are important because people grew up inside them. This one is a rare track that’s able to do both, and considering that Wolf is not only their opener but a major PTV fan who has named them as a musical inspiration, the feelings hit hard even without the stadium lights.
And then, of course, came “King for a Day.” Because how else could this night end? Pierce The Veil closed the show with their biggest viral hit that had the crowd screaming along to every word. You know it’s a banger when it goes viral on TikTok and climbs the charts nearly a decade after its release…and even without guest vocals from Kellin Quinn, PTV singer Vic Fuentes made the song his own as he ended the night with fireworks. Both literally and figuratively.
