Turnstile gave fans something to scream about last night at the “NEVER ENOUGH TOUR PT 2” kickoff — with attendees packing into The Rave’s Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee for a 22-song setlist. The night was a perfect collision of their hardcore roots mixed with the mainstream success they’ve enjoyed over the past few years…and people wasted no time breaking down every song choice like a full-time job.
After Texas Is the Reason and Haywire warmed up the room, Turnstile kicked things off with “BIRDS,” “Real Thing,” and “ENDLESS.” Zigzagging between eras in the first 15 minutes? It’s a bold choice, but one that the Baltimore band pulled off effortlessly. From there, the set moved through video moments, new-era haziness, and a sense of hardcore release that reminds the audience they’re never too old to jump into the pit.
Need proof? Just look at Reddit. One user in attendance summed up the entire Turnstile experience, saying “My body hurts but it was the greatest show.” Another called it an “incredible night,” while several praised the setlist that included plenty of modern Turnstile tracks. The Milwaukee show leaned heavily on NEVER ENOUGH and GLOW ON, with eight songs from each record making the cut.
“SUNSHOWER,” “SOLE,” “LOOK OUT FOR ME,” and the title track all represented the band’s latest chapter, while “MYSTERY,” “HOLIDAY,” “BLACKOUT,” “T.L.C. (TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION),” and “UNDERWATER BOI” gave fans of their 2021 record a reason to, well, GLOW ON. But the biggest new moment came with “MAGIC MAN,” which made its live debut late in the main set.
Sitting near the end of the setlist, the track felt symbolic of everything Turnstile has become during the NEVER ENOUGH era — brighter, stranger, more expansive, but still made for a room that never stops moving. You can’t help but tap your foot, bob your head, or fist pump when a song like “MAGIC MAN” comes on, and during the live debut, its superpower was evident from the very first note.
Milwaukee also got the tour debut of “WILD WRLD,” another smart choice for a setlist that balanced the band’s current glow-up with reminders of where they came from. Between “UNDERWATER BOI,” “Canned Heat,” “Keep It Moving,” “7,” “Drop,” and “I Don’t Wanna Be Blind,” Turnstile gave longtime fans enough nostalgic moments to lose their minds while still keeping the night focused on where they are now.
Casual reminder: Turnstile are now a Grammy nominated band, but still have no problem opening up the pits and screaming their Baltimore punk roots from the rooftops. In fact, they did just that with the encore, finishing up with a performance of “T.L.C. (TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION)” that more or less represents how we all feel about them.
