Ye Comes Home To Two Sold Out Stadium Shows in Chicago

“I’m coming home again,” Ye proclaimed atop an enormous globe giving off the illusion the rapper was standing atop a spinning planet Earth.

The Grammy-winning artist formerly known as Kanye West returned to the city he grew up in for two sold out shows at Soldier Field, for a pair of extremely special dates on his Live Concert Tour 2026.

On the first night, Thursday (9/3), the artist formerly known as Kanye West climbed onto his globe-shaped stage and opened with “Homecoming,” naturally, before methodically doling out songs from every stage of his career.

Thursday's show will be known for Ye's reunion with Big Sean, a beef going back five years that apparently has been squashed.

Sean signed with G.O.O.D. Music in 2007, a label/imprint Ye started in 2004. His 14-year run yielded platinum records and multiple #1 albums highlighted with major hits including “I Don’t Fuck With You,” “Bounce Back,” “Blessings” and “Clique.”

The Detroit rapper had said signing with Ye was a “golden opportunity” that changed his life and he felt so blessed to be working with him that if any time he asked for a verse or help or anything he would do it and not ask for a cut of the publishing... but financially, he had signed a bad, long, contract, and he hadn't been rewarded the way that would have been right.

In 2021, he said an independent audit showed that about $6 million it appeared Universal owed him had been paid to G.O.O.D. Music, but it never made it to him. Sean said, “I put at least $30 million in this man’s pocket or more, and he owes me money.”

Around the same time Ye was publicly dissing the most prolific contributor to his label, saying "the worst thing I've ever did was sign Big Sean."

Eventually Sean and G.O.O.D. Music worked out an understanding that not only got him out of the record deal, but he also got paid to his satisfaction.

When Ye shocked the 70,000 by introducing Sean, he said, “had to bring my homie from the D out.” Out came Sean who performed the 2012 G.O.O.D. Music collab he did with Ye and Jay-Z, “Clique.”

Then performed his own “I Don’t Fuck With You,” a 2015 single that went #1 on several charts and is flirting with hitting a billion streams.

Before all that excitement he dusted off "Champion" from Graduation, the Steely Dan-sampled banger he hadn't performed in 17 years.

Later he would receive special guests 2 Chainz, Twista, as well as Future.

Ye followed it the next night (9/4) with an even longer, guest-packed show that stretched past three hours.

Thursday was 46 tracks. Friday was 57 cuts and somehow even more epic. Some called it a tribute to Chicago hip-hop history, thanks to a parade of guest stars from the Windy: Chief Keef, Twista, Common, Lupe Fiasco, GLC, as well as 312-affiliated rappers, Consequence and Kid Cudi.

Perhaps the best moment from the guests was when GLC and Consequence joined Ye as they revived the unbelievable "Spaceship" which had been sitting on the sidelines since 2014.

How does a song like that, an absolute monster, just waste away sitting on the bench for that long?

Ye is now heading to Russia of all places for a pair of shows, then Indonesia on 10/24, Houston on Halloween, Dallas on 11/7 and the tour wraps up in Phoenix on 11/21.
