Exclusive Interview with GWAR at Aftershock Festival 2018

The Slave Pit Inc. collective GWAR invaded Sacramento's Discovery Park on Saturday to spray their shock rock antics all over Aftershock Festival attendees. The 8-song set was riddled with favorites like "Saddam A Go-Go," "Maggots" and "Sick of You."

GWAR

The alien warriors delivered a sought-out ridiculous set, starting off their set by decapitating a version of Pope Francis and immediately covering the crowd in blood. They also wasted no time with shooting fake alien semen out of fake alien penis', definitely giving metal fans their moneys worth! The shock tactic paired well with shredding guitars and heavy metal riffage.

In line with the fest, we got the opportunity to ask frontman Blothar some necessary questions about their live performances. Check out what the alien monster had to say below:

What do you want fans to get from your live show that they can’t get from just listening to the album?

"We want our fans to get throttled to death, smothered by the overwhelming weight of our heavy heavy metal music. GWAR is a live band. Gotta see it."

What’s the happiest accident that’s ever happened on stage? Something that didn’t seem so great in the moment, but in retrospect made the show memorable?

"We have had many accidents on stage. Beefcake doodled in his drawers just last night. But I suppose the happiest accident was our child GOR GOR. An unplanned pregnancy, but what a delight he is now that he has grown into a murderous, 20 foot tall dinosaur."

What has to happen for you to feel like “that was a GREAT” show, we nailed it?

"If every last person in the audience is reduced to a a smoldering pair of empty shoes, we know we've done our best, and that's all we can do."

How can fans get the most out of your show? How should they prepare?

"I would say to prepare a last will and testament, get your affairs in order, wear a pair of adult diapers, and come on down to meet your doom."

Gwar – By Chris Tuite

You heard it straight from the intergalactic band, get your adult diapers ready if you plan on being at any of the shows on this current tour, listed below! They also just added a post-Christmas tour leading up NYE. Here's Bolthar's statement on the occasion:

“HO! HO! HO! Merry SeXmas! Come join GWAR for a special holiday show as we stalk and kill the fat bearded pedophile known as Santa Claus, fill the stockings of every child in the world with diarrhea, decapitate Father Time, and molest the Baby New Year!”
