The Menzingers Play 20 Songs in First Full Band Show Since March

Like many bands, (or, um, a good chunk of humanity), Pennsylvania punks The Menzingers had big plans for 2020. With international dates lined up to promote their sixth studio album, 2019’s Hello Exile, the band were actually playing shows in Australia when news of Austin’s SXSW being cancelled came through—a serious indicator for the music industry as a whole.

Alas, they have adapted for this particular era. While in lockdown they remotely re-imagined Hello Exile in its entirety. The aptly named From Exile was released just last month. This past weekend, on Saturday, October 10th, The Menzingers put on their first full band livestream. It was their first time performing together since that Melbourne show in March.

The set was streaming from Studio 4, where they recorded their last two albums, and was decided in part by fan voting via settheset.com. The 20-song setlist was heavy on the After The Party and On The Impossible Past, coming in at six songs each. They played four songs from Hello Exile, including very relevant set-opener “America (You’re Freaking Me Out)”.
