My Chemical Romance Wraps Five Nights at the Forum

My Chemical Romance has officially wrapped their long-awaited reunion tour. The twice delayed tour ended with five nights in LA at the Kia Forum and the Jersey boys went out with style. Each night focused on a different MCR album and there were some huge surprises and debuts along the way.

Night one, October 11, 2022, was centered on their debut album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. Alongside several of their singles the band played selections like “Our Lady Of Sorrows” and “Headfirst For Halos,” ending with an encore of “Skylines and Turnstiles” and “Demolition Lovers.” While it wasn’t part of Bullets, the band also played their cover of Bob Dylan’s “Desolation Row” for the first time since 2011. Also, Gerard Way wore a cheerleader outfit and played with a flamethrower on stage.

The October 12 show focused on Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. The band brought back “Give ‘Em Hell Kid” and “Hang ‘Em High” among others and the encore was “Helena” and “Desert Song.”

October 14 was dedicated to the band’s hit album The Black Parade. They played “I Don’t Love You” for the first time on the tour, as well as “House of Wolves” and “Heaven Help Us.” The encore featured the live debut of “All the Angels” and “Sleep.” During the show, Gerard read an excerpt from Luda, the debut novel from friend of the band Grant Morrison.

The fourth night was October 15 and was a chance for Killjoys to make some noise, with songs from Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Songs from the album that made the cut were “Planetary (GO)” and “Save Yourself, I’ll Hold Them Back.” “Summertime” was dedicated to Gerard’s wife Lindsey and he later dedicated “Teenagers” to their daughter Bandit. Oh, and the whole time Gerard was dressed like Dracula.

The fifth show on October 17 was a mystery, since there have only been four official My Chemical Romance albums. At one point Gerard claimed the theme for the night was “Catholic.” We have no idea what he meant but we’ll go with it. The night was a toss up of all the albums, but featured the first performance of “Sister To Sleep” since 2003, with altered lyrics. “SING” returned to the stage for the first time since 2012. The encore kicked off with the live debut of “Fake Your Death” from their greatest hits album May Death Never Stop You and ended with their first single “Vampires Will Never Hurt You.”

Missed out on the shows? Well word is that they were all professionally recorded so here’s hoping we see a live album or concert footage out there from the band in the future. We’ll wait for that like we’re going to wait for any further updates from the band regarding a new album or further tour dates. The import thing is My Chemical Romance has proved they’re not dead, they just dress that way.
