Kesha hopped on stage with Charli XCX and Troye Sivan for two tunes at the Forum in Inglewood on Tuesday (10/15).
One of them was the debut of the Charli/Kesha collab "Spring Breakers," and what a perfect time to unveil it than two weeks before Halloween.
Actually it might be right on the money because there are sure to be hoards of costume parties where people wear dayglo green outfits with name tags that say, "Hi, my name is Brat."
For being as critically acclaimed as the June 7 release of Brat was and the June 10 deluxe version (Brat and It's the Same but There's Three More Songs So It's Not) and the remix collection Brat and It's Completely Different but Also Still Brat that dropped last week, Charli hasn't been on the road all that much to share the dance music with her devotees.
She live debuted a few of the songs this spring at a pre-Coachella private affair sponsored by White Claw. But her touring for the album was relegated to a few headlining gigs among festival appearances.
Maybe that's how you do it these days?
Is she vying for a headlining Coachella spot by building up the hype and forcing the desert festival to beg her for a Friday night slot?
She's already got some serious contenders for that plum benediction. Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, and Chappell Roan seem like likely candidates for the honor.
But a Brat Spring does sound like a good thing.
As you may have heard by now, Kesha finally did a live version of "Spring Breakers" with Charli.
The pair are on the Completely Different... remix album that also has guest appearances from Robyn, Yung Lean, Ariana Grande, the 1975, Troye Sivan, Addison Rae, Lorde, Tinashe, Julian Casablancas, and Bon Iver, among others.
Technically Charli has done the song live over a dozen times, but never with her boo, Kesha, so is this is a live duet debut? Let's make it so.
Sporting a pink faux fur, white fishnets and knee hi boots, Kesha then did "Tik Tok" with Charli and Troye. The banger is 14 years old and still delivers.
It was a perfect compliment to the heavily produced electronica Brat tunes that boomed through the old arena all night.
Not to be outdone, Troye had a special guest join him on stage as well.
Tate McRae, the 21-year-old Canadian singer and dancer joined Troye for their 2021 tune "You."
There was a bit of controversy though.
One audience member noticed that Charli was begging the Forum crowd to show a little more energy.
LA does tend to be more chill than many other scenes in part because they get to see all the shows, all the time, and it takes a little more than usual to get them to go ham.
Still, the 32-year-old performer didn't seem pleased with the fans at the first night. Or was she negging? Or is she just like that some times?
What might be frustrating for her is for all 21 dates of the Sweat Tour, the only city blessed with more than one night was LA.
Will she be disappointed with the remaining left coast gigs?
Or will she, you know, love it?
Charli and Troye only have a few more dates left on their schedule. Warning Charli, they're all west coast shows. Tickets available on the Sweat Tour website.
