AFI has officially launched their fall 2025 tour, and the first run of shows has already given fans plenty to talk about. Across four opening nights in Madison, Detroit, Chicago, and Columbus, the band mixed setlist classics from their catalog with a handful of live debuts, keeping each performance fresh, unpredictable, and perfectly AFI.
The tour launched September 30 at The Sylvee in Madison, WI, where AFI introduced two songs for the first time ever: “Marguerite” and “The Bird of Prey.” The live debuts signaled a post-punk turn that’s been pulsing through AFI’s sound for months now… all leading up to the release of their twelfth album, Silver Bleeds the Black Sun… this month. But despite the mature new sound, these songs still blended flawlessly with old favorites like “The Days of the Phoenix,” “Girl’s Not Grey,” and “End Transmission.”
By the time the band hit Detroit’s Fillmore on October 2, the setlist had already shifted. “Nooneunderground” made its first-ever appearance, replacing “Marguerite” and deepening the industrial pulse of the show. Chicago’s Salt Shed crowd on October 3 got yet another surprise when “Ash Speck in a Green Eye” made its debut — following the unexpected resurrection of “File 13,” which hadn’t been played since 2018.
The streak continued in Columbus on October 4, when the band premiered “Voidward, I Bend Back,” another new track from Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…. Even with the rotating setlists, certain tracks have remained constant: “Girl’s Not Grey” has opened multiple shows, “Love Like Winter” continues to be a centerpiece, and “Silver and Cold” closes each night in nostalgic fashion. AFI continues to be the punk rock kids you know and love, even if the format changes by album and city!
For the October 6 date in Buffalo, the band live debuted "Blasphemy & Excess" mid-set.
And in Cleveland they live debuted two songs, one from their 2021 album Bodies - "Far Too Near" - and another from Silver Bleeds, "Spear of Truth."
To date the band have performed 9 of 10 tracks from Silver Bleeds... and they have nearly 20 more dates left on this tour. For a super detailed breakdown of the songs played so far, you can check out the band's subreddit.
AFI’s willingness to reshape the setlist nightly has made the start of this tour feel alive in a way that longtime fans immediately recognized. The band’s balance of legacy material and fresh cuts has drawn praise amongst both critics and longtime fans, and they’re only continuing to surprise us with the remaining dates. Check out the setlists for Madison, Detroit, Chicago, Columbus, Buffalo and Cleveland.
