Welcome to the showcase phase of Friday Night Mic, our series exploring the budding talents of high school bands. How can they be this good when they still have homework? We've had so much fun finding the passions, personalities and developing signature sounds of these groups, and now we're ready to share a few of our favorites with you all!

The Dollheads

The Dollheads are a Las Vegas trio formed in 2022, but really the siblings have been playing together for more than a decade. They channel Joan Jett, Rancid and blink-182 into their pop punk sound and self describe their audience as "for people who vent to their notes app instead of a therapist.” They just got back from a tour in Europe, NBD.

SEQUOIA

SEQUOIA are a rock and roll foursome from Agoura Hills. They count The Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against The Machine and Ben Harper amongst their biggest influences, and hope to one day open for Incubus. Within their community they created “Band Bash” a festival featuring only high school bands. They're about to release their first EP!

Late Autumn

Late Autumn is the freshest of our finds, their lead instrumentalists coming together to make "Jimi Hendrix" pop just this year. The self-proclaimed "short queens" count HAIM, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Pomplamoose among their influences. They all have successful musical ventures outside of the band, and drummer Yoyoka has even been recognized for her talents by Robert Plant.
