Danzig Wraps Up Fall 2018 Tour at Halloween Hell Bash

In celebration of their 30th anniversary, heavy metal band Danzig made one final lap around the States for a Fall 2018 tour.

Danzig, the musical outlet for singer-songwriter Glenn Danzig (preceded by bands Misfits and Samhain), kicked off their last tour on October 24th in Portland, Oregon and visited cities like Seattle, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque and Denver before wrapping on November 3rd in Irvine, California for a "Halloween Hell-Bash."

Under the moniker, Danzig has released ten studio albums, one live album, one compilation album, two EPs and 24 singles.

The Evil Elvis selected songs from his music catalogue that spans over the course of 30 years, from his solo work to all of his side projects.

"I think this is gonna be it," Danzig said in an interview about the tour. "I mean, I'll do some shows here and there, but I don't think I'm gonna tour anymore."

Those in attendance had the chance to see Danzig perform as a group for the last time, but don't worry: its sinister frontman is taking time to work on some other projects.

Joined by bands like Power Trip, The Meteors, Venom, Inc and The Damned, let's look at some highlights from Danzig's final performance in his Halloween Hell-Bash show in Irvine.

Danzig

After playing their first three songs ("Skin Carver," "Eyes Ripping Fire" and "Devil on Highway 9"), Danzig addressed the audience, saying, "Only old shit from here on out!"

The band played songs from their self-titled album ("Am I Demon," "Mother," "Not of This World" and "Twist of Cain") as well as Danzig II: Lucifuge ("Blood and Tears," "Her Black Wings," "Snakes of Christ" and "Tired of Being Alive") and Danzig III: How the Gods Kill ("Dirty Black Summer," "Do You Wear the Mark," "How the Gods Kill" and "Left Hand Black").

After 16 songs, Danzig played a two-song encore of "She Rides" and "Long Way Back From Hell."

The Meteors

The English psychobilly group The Meteors joined Danzig's lineup at FivePoints Amphitheater for the Halloween Hell-Bash and didn't disappoint.

The six-piece band played songs like "Graveyard Stomp," "Wrecking Crew" and "Rawhide."

The Damned

Punk legends The Damned brought the heat to Irvine, playing songs like "Eloise," "Love Song" and "Wait for the Blackout."

Frontman Dave Vanian addressed the band's morbid lyrics in a recent interview, saying:

"We love melody. We love music. But, sometimes we want to talk about things that are a little different. They are just as important to us. Sometimes, they’re not written in kind of a doom laden way, so you can dance to it. But, when you read the lyrics they just might stimulate you intellectually…"
