Canadian rockers Silverstein had a good year (are still having a good year!) among the resurgence of live music AND (in case you missed it) EMO. In addition to playing one of 2022's most-anticipated festivals of the year - When We Were Young - the band also set sail on an Emo CRUISE. They released their newest album, Misery Made Me, in May and we wrote about their US tour kickoff with their spinning song wheel in September. They're currently tearing it up in Germany, but fortunately, frontman Shane Told had a few moments to answer our end of year questions.
Setlist.fm: What was your favorite show that YOU played this year? Tell us about it
Shane Told: We had so many incredible and unique shows, but my favorite has to be on the Emo’s Not Dead cruise. We played to a couple thousand people on the pool deck of a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean while travelling at 30 knots. To look out and realize what was happening was pretty incredible. We played a classic album from start to finish. It was really special for the entire crowd as well.
Setlist.fm: What was your favorite show that you SAW this year?
ST: I got to see Elton John on his final Las Vegas performance ever. He played Las Vegas 469 times on his career so seeing the last one ever was very special and emotional. At 75 years old, he still has so much energy and sounded incredible. Seriously I can’t believe how amazing he was.
Setlist.fm: Can you share a favorite touring memory from this year?
ST: Going back to Europe for festivals for the first time in a few years felt so good. The audience was so excited for it to be back, and it was to such a great feeling to see old friends and hang out.
Setlist.fm: What do you have planned for 2023?
ST: It’s safe to say basically the entire world is back and opened up, so we’re going to hit everywhere pretty hard! Look out for a headlining US tour in April/May, some big festivals, and hopefully we get to explore some new places we haven’t played yet!
