The Top 10 Festivals of 2022: Metal, Metal and More

2022 was a huge year for festivals, with many finally returning after two long years off. From established favorites to brand new traditions, there was plenty to see and do. So here are Setlist’s Top 10 Festivals of 2022, according to our data.

10. Movement Electronic Music Festival

This yearly techno fest in Detroit was back for 2022. 2 Chainz made waves as a headliner along with Seth Troxler, Carl Craig and more. See setlists here.

9. Primavera Sound

This massive Spanish fest spans multiple venues in multiple cities. 2022 featured huge names including Bjork, Lorde, Tyler the Creator, Dua Lipa and The Gorillaz.

8. Inferno Festival

Norway’s biggest metal festival returned to Oslo. Among the acts featured were Triumph of Death, Gorgoroth and Kreator. Check out those setlists here.

7. Graspop Metal Meeting

Belgium’s metal fest made waves on Setlist this year. Featuring massive rock names like Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Korn and Alice Cooper.

6. Cruel World

A newcomer for 2022, Cruel World was a celebration of 80’s new wave and punk in Pasadena, California. Major nostalgic names took the stage, including Blondie, Bauhaus, Violent Femmes and Morrissey. See setlists from the new festival here.

5. Bourbon & Beyond

A fourth day was added to this Louisville, Kentucky festival to include all the great bands on the schedule. Alanis Morissette, Kings of Leon, Pearl Jam, Chris Stapleton and the Doobie Brothers were just a few of the eclectic artists that were featured. See those setlists here.

4. Hellfest

Yet another metal festival, this one in France, makes our list of top fests for 2022. The huge festival rocked out with names like Metallica, Guns N Roses, Bring Me the Horizon and, oddly, The Offspring. See those setlists here.

3. When We Were Young

The other brand new festival on this list, When We Were Young celebrated the nostalgia of the emo and punk scene. Major acts included My Chemical Romance, Paramore, The Used and Avril Lavigne. See highlights from Weekend Two here.

2. Glastonbury Festival

One of England’s premier festivals, Glastonbury was once again huge in 2022. Headliners were Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Paul McCartney, playing alongside the likes of Wolf Alice, Lorde and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. 1. Coachella

The mother of them all, Coachella came roaring back this year. Boasting stars like Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, Megan Thee Stallion and plenty more, the show rocked Indio, California, like you knew it would.
