Jared Leto Climbs Empire State Building To Promote New 30STM Tour

As handsome as Jared Leto is, a mere press conference with good lighting, healthy snacks and and pleasant backdrop to promote a forthcoming world tour would have sufficed, but the Oscar-winning rocker wanted to go big.

Thursday morning, November 9, 2023, the longtime frontman of Thirty Seconds to Mars scaled the 92 year old art deco NYC landmark made famous by King Kong, Elf, and Sleepless in Seattle. It's also known for being the first skyscraper taller than 100 stories. A fact not lost on the dreamy performer.

“The building is a testament of all the things that can be done in the world if we put our minds to it, which is largely the inspiration behind our most recent album, It’s The End Of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day,” Leto said.

The epic tour kicks off in the southern hemisphere with appearances at Lollapalooza Chile, Argentina and Brazil along with Estéreo Picnic in Colombia and Tecate Pa’l Norte Festival in Mexico. Then platinum-selling outfit, which includes Jared's brother Shannon is scheduled for 28 shows in the Europe.

The fun leaps the pond to North America where AFI along with support from Poppy and Kenny Hoopla joins the party as they journey for 24 dates, mostly in the States. After a tiny break, the tour concludes in Australia and New Zealand for a quartet of appearances.

Is November 9 important to Jared? I ask because on November 9, 2009, 30STM had a special celebration in Hollywood where they debuted their short film/long video for "Kings and Queens" called The Ride.

At that performance at the Ricardo Montalban Theater near the famous corner of Hollywood and Vine, the band live debuted several songs including "This Is War," "100 Suns," "Revenge" and "Kings and Queens."

The show was a special gig that included a trio of acoustic numbers. Quite a treat for their most devoted fans who happened to be in LA.

But as we know there are fans all around the world who love this group. As is typical when there's a gap in April, one should speculate if that means there might be an appearance at Coachella.

At issue here is although the band could possibly fly up from Mexico to Indio for Weekend One, their schedule would make it difficult to appear at Weekend Two. So a guest appearance or a popup show is possible, but doubtful.

For all we know he might just jet there to chill and be a fan.

Jared should look for as much me-time as possible in that gueling tour. However the absence of any Los Angeles shows, is mighty suspicious. Could there be a bonus gig at the very end of the tour after the Northern California gig?
