Would you fly to a different country to jam with a Beatle?
Annie Clark did just that when she joined Paul McCartney Sunday (11/17) in Mexico City at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez racetrack during the Corona Capital festival.
The show was McCartney's 49th performance in his Got Back Tour that began in the Spring of 2022 in Washington.
The guest appearance from St. Vincent on "Get Back" was a reunion of sorts as the pair collaborated on Sir Paul's 2020 LP, McCartney III.
He and Annie remixed his song "Women and Wives" on the album. It's a tune he's played plenty of times during his special VIP soundchecks for his superfans, but hasn't performed in a proper concert since 2022.
Sure would have been cool of him to do it with Ms. Clark, but nope.
After the pair remixed the song in 2021, Clark told NME the entire collab was a dream come true.
“After it was all done and everything, Paul called me to thank me and tell me that he liked it. It was the best moment of my life… maybe? I mean, I don’t… I don’t know where to put that," she gushed.
"One thing that occurred to me was, think about how many hours of enjoyment in the world have happened as a result of Paul McCartney’s music. Lifetimes and lifetimes of hours that people have spent listening to his work," she said.
With archival footage of The Beatles playing and recording the classic cut, McCartney and his band rocked the tune about Jo Jo and Sweet Loretta Martin as St. Vincent played the familiar leads.
Jack White was invited on stage for the final tune of Paul's 29-song set, "The End."
The former White Stripes guitarist had played earlier that night, thus was handy to help St. Vincent and others on the track from Abbey Road. The tune is a song McCartney has played, typically at the end of each gig, at every show on the tour.
Despite White being a veteran guitar hero on his own right, the two have never shared a stage together until last week.
In a 2009 interview with MTV News, White declared, "Paul is my favorite Beatle. He's been a big influence on me—especially the way that he sings."
But why? Was it one of the many songs he penned? No, it was a cover, for goodness sake.
"I heard a cover song they did early on called 'Hippy Hippy Shake' that Paul sang, and I loved how high he sang it," White revealed about the Chan Romeo tune The Fab Four used to do when they were starting off.
"My voice isn't comfortable in that higher range, but that song was a big influence on me trying to get my voice somewhere like that," he said.
White is not alone. Our records show Paul has only covered the tune once outside of the Beatles, back in 2008 to kick off a show he headlined in Liverpool.
At that show, McCartney's rock star guest was Dave Grohl who played three songs with him, including a tune on drums.
Before he hopped on stage with Paul, Jack White played a 17-song set to one of his largest audiences of The No Name Tour. Oddly just four of those tracks were from the new record.
The bulkload were tunes from his days with the White Stripes.
