If there’s one sound that perks up the gauged ears of every emo kid, it’s the opening note to My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome to the Black Parade.” This tune has resonated with an entire generation of rock lovers that the band lovingly refers to as “the broken, the beaten, and the damned.” And now, they’ll get to hear this standout track and so much more on My Chemical Romance’s 2025 stadium tour.
Joined by various guests including Violent Femmes, 100 Gecs, Wallows, Alice Cooper, Pixies and more, My Chemical Romance will make 10 stops across North America. And with shows in Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago and more, they’re guaranteed to do justice to the album that changed it all. Are you ready to celebrate The Black Parade in all its glory as they play it from front-to-back?
“It has been seventeen years since The Black Parade was sent to the MOAT,” the band wrote on Instagram. “In that time, a great Dictator has risen to power, bringing about ‘THE CONCRETE AGE’; a glorious time of stability and abundance in the history of DRAAG. His Grand Immortal Dictator wishes to celebrate our rich and storied culture, fine foods, and musical entertainments by welcoming you to these great demonstrations of power and resolve.”
“And lending voice and song for the first time in six thousand two hundred and forty six days,” they continued, “their work privilege ceremoniously reinstated, will be His Grand Immortal Dictator's National Band... The Black Parade. Long Live Draag.” Any MCR fan knows that they have a penchant for theatricality — whether it’s Gerard Way’s onstage outfits, Frank Iero and Ray Toro’s epic guitar solos, or their music videos that have inspired a full generation of misfits.
And needless to say, their 2025 trek will be no exception. After dropping a cryptic message on Instagram yesterday (a norm for My Chemical Romance), fans knew that something was up. For those lucky enough to witness them perform The Black Parade in its entirety at When We Were Young Fest last month, they knew that Gerard Way and Co. weren't ready to hang up their striped jackets just yet.
Others were hoping for new music, as it’s been fifteen years since their last album, 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. But a stadium tour? We’ll take it! The legacy of The Black Parade is undeniable, as this rock opera-concept album changed the direction of My Chemical Romance as we know it. It took them from emo icons to full-fledged rock stars, selling millions of copies and earning the praise of music publications everywhere.
Rolling Stone even named it as one of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time,” and it’s well-deserved. Aside from the lead single, “Welcome to the Black Parade,” singles like “Famous Last Words,” “Teenagers,” and “I Don’t Love You” lit a fire in misunderstood millennials everywhere. And continue to do so even two decades later. We’re expecting a night of nonstop nostalgia, bittersweet tears, and appreciation for the emo years on this My Chemical Romance tour, and we hope to see you at the show!
