Thom Yorke is king at keeping things different and interesting. That's why his latest tour, Tomorrow's Modern Boxes, is an electronic live performance with visuals that are trippy enough to send sober people into different dimensions.
We've already delved deep into his kick off performances, but now that he's in the midst of things, it's time to examine the setlist. He's proficient in crafting a setlist that touches on the best parts of his solo career, all off of Tomorrow's Modern Boxes, The Eraser, songs from his work with Atoms For Peace, new cuts, and even cuts off of his Suspiria score. Intrigued? Read on.
What's the production setup like?
The trio (Yorke, Nigel Goodrich, and Tarik Barri) are each positioned at their work stations, with Yorke alternating between guitar, keys and singing. Goodrich takes the sound to sonically bold places and Barri tops the performance with out-of-this-world visual aids.
How long are the setlists?
It averages out to about 18 songs.
Has the setlist remained the same every night?
For the most part yes, but that doesn't mean Yorke won't throw a surprise or two into the mix.
What does he open with?
"Interference" off Tomorrow's Modern Boxes.
How about encores?
He performs two encores. The first usually contains about 3-4 songs and will most likely have "The Axe," "Atoms For Peace," and "Default," along with a deep cut if he's feeling generous. The second encore is for closing the night out with Suspiria song, either "Unmade" or "Suspirium."
What deep cuts has he done?
Last night (December 5th) in Milwaukee he performed "Harrowdown Hill" for the first time since 2015.
How about any Radiohead songs?
He just started performing "Reckoner" off In Rainbows a couple of nights ago.
