Simple Creatures Share Favorite 2019 Shows and Plans for 2020!

It's been an exciting 2019 for Mark Hoppus and Alex Gaskarth as the two friends and collaborators launched their brand new synth-pop side project - Simple Creatures.
They released TWO EPs within months of each other - Strange Love and Everything Opposite - and played some very special shows around the releases. Their latest shows were two intimate outings at the Fonda in Southern California and the Observatory in Orange County around mid-November. We had Hoppus and Gaskarth stop by Setlist.Fm for a special episode of Tour Update which you can catch below ICYMI!

With just two EPs, you can bet that their setlist showcases ALL the songs, averaging around 10-13 tracks per show. They also like to throw in a cover of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus," an inspiration to the Simple Creatures sound.

This week the boys head to Australia to perform at Good Things Festival for three dates, and then they will be gearing up to release more music! In the meantime, we asked Hoppus and Gaskarth to reflect on their 2019, sharing with us their favorite shows as both performers AND as fans, as well as plans for 2020.
Read their short but sweet answers below!
What was your favorite show that YOU played this year?
Mark: For Simple Creatures, probably the show at The Observatory. Friends and family were there, it was loose and fun and everyone sang along.
Alex: Download Fest. It was the first time we got to play in front of a crowd that wasn't entirely made up of Simple Creatures fans coming to see a headlining gig, and the songs still went off, and people still had a great time. That's always the true test of whether a band's music holds up, and it did!

What was your favorite show that you SAW this year?
Mark: Twenty One Pilots at the Staples Center, (November 1).
Alex: Anderson .Paak at Coachella was one of the most impressive shows I've seen. So engaging, so much talent and showmanship exuded. Very inspiring.
What do you have planned for 2020?
Mark: Make music every chance I get.
Alex: Planning on staying really well hydrated.
