Primus Play Deep Cuts from Pachyderm Station During 16-Song Set

Friday night, December 11th, prog-rock legends Primus played their first show of 2020. The pay-per-view event, dubbed "Alive from Pachyderm Station," was filmed in advance at lead singer Les Claypool's winery in Sebastopol, California. Primus kicked off their 90-minute set with a couple of song sandwiches (per Jambase) the first being their second most-performed song, "Those Damned Blue Collar Tweekers," and rarity "Laquer Head" (hadn't been performed since the close of the Antipop tour in 2000). The second song sandwich was Frizzle Fry track "Too Many Puppies" with a partial of "Sgt. Baker."

Primus played songs off six of their nine studio albums, 1991 LP Sailing the Seas of Cheese leading with five songs. The gems largely came off Antipop, the title track being resurrected for the first time since 2000 about mid-set. Secret track "The Heckler" (also on their very first album) came before the only live debut of the set, "Eclectic Electric."

The latter half of the set included their most-performed song of all time, "Jerry Was a Race Car Driver," the only song from their most recent album, "The Seven" and a set closing 10-minute rendition of "Southbound Pachyderm."
