Travis Scott Debuts New Song During "Astronomical" Fortnite Event

Over 12.3 million Fortnite players viewed rapper Travis Scott perform a total of five live concerts. This weekend (April 24-26), Scott collaborated with Fortnite to produce Astronomical, an ultimate crossover show within the game. He debuted his newest single, “The Scotts,” featuring Kid Cudi, for the first time in the game. The immersive experience took place across the whole map in the Battle Royale game. Needless to say, it was a pretty wild ride. The creative approach took digital livestreaming to an entirely new level. Fortnite also featured a series of “Astronomical Challenges” that were free to players to partake in.

Players got to view a skyscraper-sized version of Travis Scott’s avatar perform six of his most popular hits, kicking off with the iconic “Sicko Mode." The set was divided into three sections that coincided with the venue locations on the Battle Royale map. The transition into the “In Sweat Sands” portion featured an explosion of color and effects. Set in a tropical beach, Scott jumped into performances of “Stargazing” and “Goosebumps.” He teleported across the game’s landscape to his “Floating above island set,” where he did a transcendent performance of “Highest in the Room.”

The rapper then transported himself into the unknown space to transition into another rendition of “Sicko Mode.” Kid Cudi then accompanied him as they live debuted Scott’s new track, “The Scotts.” At one point, Scott began walking around a planet. He traveled all over the galaxy and led the outro to a shining ray of light, which then ended the event. The visuals provided an electrifying experience that made the performance all the more captivating. The 10-minute experience was a surreal display of Scott entering multiple dimensions and having the ability to fling other players into outer space, water and other locations on the map.

The setlist was slightly different on April 25, where Scott only performed the first section in "Sicko Mode" without Drake. He also performed everything after the instrumental in "Stargazing" and the first half of "Goosebumps." Scott also played a shortened version of "Highest in the Room," before jumping into the second half of "Sicko Mode." The Astronomical event aired again on April 26 with the regular setlist.

Scott hopped on Instagram Live this weekend to tune in to the event with fans. His daughter, Stormi, made a few occasional appearances, even taking over the game controls herself.
