Hi David,
First, I'm a huge fan of Biff Bang Pow! Slightly starstruck!! I could not have been more obsessed with Creation when I was in high school and college. I still have my coveted copy of Wild, Summer Wow!
I'm writing because I see you were also at the Jesus & Mary Chain show at the Newport in Columbus, Ohio, on NOv. 18, 1987. I was a huge JMC fan at the time, but I was also obsessed with Opal. My memory of the night is that Opal had broken up the night before in Cleveland and didn't play. My group of friends from that night remember that, too. Someone on other site claimed that Hope Sandoval fill in for Kendra, but I have no memory of Opal playing in any shape or form that night. ?? we had driven from Ohio University for the show and got very drunk after hearing about Opal's break up. If Hope did play with the band, we probably ignored it or just complained. hilarious since Mazzy Star became my favorite band a few years later. Thoughts? Memories? Cheers, Susan
Hi David,
It was so great to hear from you! Thanks for writing back and giving me the scoop. I guess whaat is still mysterious is whether or not I actually saw the Opal version of Mazzy Star in 1987! I need to spend some time on this site and start logging in more concerts. I'm excited to see this community space! I wonder if we will find out we were both at other shows too.
Cheers,
Susan
