Radiohead are finally back in North America for the month with back-to-back dates in major cities from the mid-west to the east coast. After completing absolute fire sets across festivals in South America, fans are eager to see what the art-rock band will bring to this part of the world for their continuous A Moon Shaped Pool tour.
It seems like Radiohead ages like fine wine, as their two nights in Chicago over the weekend proved to do so. Their first night on Friday (July 6th) was a whirlwind of hits. It took off with three A Moon Shaped Pool hits before going into Kid A jam "Morning Bell." From there, the set snowballed into tracks off their other nine studio albums, including fan favorites like "Paranoid Android" and "Pyramid Song."
All though the band barely show any stress from their everlasting world tour, hints of it came in the form of forgetting the lyrics of "Decks Dark," where Thom Yorke literally said "I can't remember the f*ckin' words."
That's ok Thom, because the resurrection of Pablo Honey's "Blow Out" during the second encore actually blew the set out of the water. This gem hasn't been performed since 2008 and was evidence that the band is still better at experimenting with jagged guitar riffs than any current band out there. The guitar-heavy track was beautifully contrasted against the night's closer "There, There" where percussion took the reigns.
Check out the entire 25-song setlist below.
The second night at United Center (July 7) offered a slightly different set with more glitchy cuts and acoustic material. They played classic licks like "Kid A," "Lucky," "Where I End and You Begin," and "Karma Police." They also performed the single "Spectre" for the first time as a band. The song was the scrapped theme song to the James Bond film of the same name. You can watch them perform the track below.
Radiohead will continue their tour tomorrow night (July 10) with a four night stint at New York City's Madison Square Garden. The tour ends August 1st in Philadelphia, check the full itinerary below.
