Tour Update: Turnover

For Austin and Casey Getz, and Danny Dempsey, the trio behind Virginia Beach indie dream-pop act Turnover, a monumental transformation was set forth with their latest album, Good Nature. With Good Nature, their third full-length record, Turnover grows both internally and externally. The group's shimmering and floaty sounds expanded to greater horizons, leaving the listener with a swirl of emotions as they absorb each track from start to finish.
The seamless transition from their dreamlike sophomore endeavor, Peripheral Vision, to Good Nature displays exponential progress, especially if you consider their 2013 emo-pop-punk debut, Magnolia. While the group’s music may have changed over the years, the trio’s dedication to their craft and their loyalty to fans has stayed perfectly intact.

When the band was in LA during their headlining tour, lead singer Austin Getz stopped by to chat with us about playing outside the US, and why it’s been incredible to do so.
“Indonesia was definitely the biggest, craziest experience just because, the walk of life is so, so different. But from being from such a different background, the people that we interacted with were so easy to relate to and so awesome. I think because it’s not this big machine like it is over there, music I mean. People over there care on a different level. I don’t think they’re as desensitized to it. There’s not a show every day they can go to," the singer said.
"It’s crazy being in the Philippines and 800 people being there and everyone caring so much, not even just necessarily about us. Like before we were there, Magrudergrind was there and they were saying the shows were crazy. So all over the place, bands from all styles. It was kind of what I imagined the beginnings of punk would have been like in the United States when it was just starting to be birthed. It was a lot of DIY scenes and people working together to make this big thing happen without resources that you may think exist. So that was incredibly inspiring to see over there,” Austin added.
