2018 in Review: Hatchie

Australian dream-pop outfit Hatchie is moniker of musician Harriette Pilbeam, who sings and plays bass. She's left quite the footprint this year with her debut EP release Sugar & Spice, which we've had playing on repeat since it dropped back in May. She also toured nationally with The Creases and has spots supporting big name bands like The Temper Trap squared away.

We've been keeping our eye on her for a while, spotlighting her dreamy landscape in a "Who Is" piece. She's since released a single called "Adored" for Adult Swim's single series, which you can listen to below.

"Adored"

Now that the year is coming to a close, we reached out to Hatchie to reflect on her finding her grounding on the road, and plans for 2019. Read on for more!

What was your favorite show that YOU played this year?

"It's so hard to choose a favorite show! A really memorable one for me was supporting Men I Trust at Mercury Lounge in New York. We'd just finished a week of SXSW shows and it was our first tour outside of Australia. It was such a special night - I was super excited to be supporting one of my favourite bands, and there was a crowd of people who showed up early to watch us and sing along. To have that experience within a few months of releasing my first couple of singles was amazing."

What was your favorite show that you SAW this year?

"I'll never forget watching The Voidz and The Drums side stage after we played The Growlers' Beach Goth."

What do you have planned for 2019?

"I'm releasing an album and touring all over!"
