If I had wanted what I had addressed to you will be visible to all, I would have put it directly the comment at this concert.
What I have written is an opinion that I give and that I do not know how to prove.
The only evidence I have is that the soundtracks don’t match. And for that you would have to come to me to compare, which I do not desire.
With my opinion, which you added as a comment, without my consent, all you need is a redneck and you’re off to endless discussions. I don’t want to.
This site is an informative site, not a discussion site.

It would be better if you withdrew your comment.

Hello Astaire,

As you’ve probably already seen, I corrected the name of the song.
It was registered in my database as Man-Erg.
This error was caused by a duplicate pasted copy.
Thanks for pointing that out.

I viewed (and listened to) the entire video posted on Youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-unwreIwik

I did not attend this concert, so I have no visual reference, but I am not sure that what is set is a concert of 27/09/1975 at the Palais des Expositions in Charleroi.
This video says Charleroi, but I haven’t seen a date.

I listened in parallel the video on one side and my soundtrack on the other.
Some parts match, but some parts don’t.
Sometimes my soundtrack is ahead of the video and sometimes it’s late.
My soundtrack is of very very poor quality but I do not detect any variation in speed that could have been the reason for these delays or advance.
Sometimes there are also obvious sound differences, but this is probably due to the sound recording. The video would in principle be made from the mixing table, while the video of my copy was made in the room.
In a mixing table, the levels are rectified so that the sound emitted in the room by the instruments is balanced. Therefore, the sound taken at the end of the table is far from always ideal.
But if they recorded in multi-tracks, they can correct the instrument levels as they want.

I know that when editing, experienced professionals or amateurs can modify a video in such a way that it is not felt.

There are some things that intrigue me:
On the video, at the second 57 the sound does not match the image. Hammill’s mouth opens before the speech comes out. Idem at 5:53.
This must certainly be the case at other times. I have not analyzed everything.
But the tempo of this video with these 2 visible bugs leaves me a doubt.

Maybe it’s also the video and soundtrack meeting that wasn’t done perfectly.
If the video (with sound) was made independently of the mixing board and if a much better soundtrack was made from the mixing board, one can easily imagine that they wanted to bring the 2 together.
If that is the case, that would explain the offsets.

Another question: why didn’t they do the whole concert?

Best regards

Alain

Possibly, you know much better about VDGG. Just as info.

From the guidelines
Performances recorded for TV or radio should be listed under the recording date and not the date that it aired.

About asking sources, it's in the guidelines.
I see you're rather new here, so maybe it would have been a good idea to read through them before making edits and receiving remarks because you don't follow them up.
For https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/van-der-graaf-generator/1977/university-of-nottingham-nottingham-england-33993471.html#sfmss232aa867 bendobrin already told you what to do before I did.
As for https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/van-der-graaf-generator/1971/festhalle-bern-switzerland-73dc9ec5.html#sfmss432a9793 you used a source (although too late to proof your point which is valid) and now that you have a valid reason to edit it you refuse to do it. A bit strange in my opinion.

Everybody can see the messages you post to other members. To contact them personnally you need to have either their email address or their facebook link if they have posted it on their profile page.
BTW your source for Bern was valid, so now you refuse to change it around?

Use the report setlist on the setlist page to delete the empty one with a link to the correct one.
You have already sent personnal messages to other members.

just an audience recording in the middle of the audience.

Hello Astaire,
As for your request for a copy, I unfortunately cannot give you a positive response.
The recordings of the concerts I have are strictly personal.
Vis-à-vis the musicians who allowed me to record them, I undertook to never issue copies (if not to themselves).
As for the recordings made by other people, I was specifically asked not to give them.
The respect of these conventions allowed me to remain always in good agreement.
I suppose you can understand that.

You requested that this setlist has the wrong songs. We don't delete setlists for this reason. You should either remove the songs or create a new "empty" setlist for this date and request that the old one be merged into it as Duplicate.

Please read
https://www.setlist.fm/guidelines#covered-songs
we base our information on officially released songs.

The Sphinx in the Face is a song from 1977, and was definitely not played in this session.

Suggesting something is not a valid source. It is not because the song was released later that it couldn't have been played earlier. Give us a link where there's proof this song wasn't played.

Thanks for your comment but please use the Report setlist button for possible problems

Unless someone who can actually delete the concert has subsribed to that particular setlist, it's unlikely nobody ever reads your message.
