I figured as much for the new songs. We’ll see whatever English or Romanized titles they end up giving them when they are finally released. I’d personally translate
‘Nyu Arubamu Mada Desuka?’ as something like ‘Is your new album still not finished?’ but it doesn’t matter… we can just rename them once they give them titles.
I personally wish that all their song titles that aren’t already in English would just be given Romanized Japanese titles, especially since a lot of them translate into awkward English sentences, but obviously they have chosen to do semi-literal translations instead of transcriptions for their international releases, so that’s what we go with here.
Hey, thanks for adding the setlist for that Dec 15 show! I took notes and was going to add the songs myself, but there were some I didn't know, especially the new, unreleased ones.
As far as I can tell, the songs you added match my notes and memory, but one thing: Are you sure that they played 'Shinzoku ni Shoukai Shite' aka 'Introduce Me to Your Family'? I ask because I love that song and they never seem to play it when I see them live. I was hoping for it again, but went away convinced that I had missed it again. I'm thinking that either you might have gotten confused because it looks like they also played it on the 14th, or else it sounds so different live that I someone managed not to recognize it when they played it. Please let me know what you think.
Yeah, that release hasn’t been added to Musicbrainz, so it won’t show up here. You could try adding it there, using the Discogs link and the band’s homepage as sources. I may eventually do do myself, but there are several things on my Musicbrainz wish list, so it may take a while.
On the bright side, you have probably noticed that they accepted my bulk edit request for Bakuro Book, and Bakuro Book is assigned to Itekoma Hits. So now all of those songs you mentioned are assigned to albums, as opposed to EPs. I thought this would take longer, but it ended up going pretty smoothly.
I'm not 100% sure about that. I do know that a release has to be official to count--we can't even see non-official releases when we assign from here--they don't show up as options.
And we don't generally don't see demos, but that could be because most demos are not officially released.
Anyway, to assign songs to the demo, it would at least have to be 1. Officially released and 2. In the Latin alphabet (either as an official international release or a pseudo-release attached ot the Japanese release) . Because of the demo status, I'm not sure if even if those conditions were met, it would be possible. But it might be.
What is the name of the official demo, anyway? As far as I can tell, the only place where Chuchu Song aka Chu Chu Song is available on Musicbrainz is on the old live album and the recent digital single release. Maybe no-one has even added it to Musicbrainz yet.
On another topic, you might have noticed that I have successfully reassigned just about everything we have talked about to the albums (as opposed to the EPs), but I am still waiting on a name change request for Bakuro Book. That's a weird one, because as far as I can tell, the name of the song really is 'Bakuro Book'... obviously the song is mostly in Japanese anyway, but I think the Japanese part of the title on the Japanese releases is just there to help Japanese people understand the intended meaning of 'Bakuro Book.' It's not something that needs to be included in the Romanized title, as 'Bakuro' is meaningless to non-Japanese speakers anyway so no point in having an explaining phrase in Romanized Japanese... but it can be hard to explain this kind of thing to non-Japanese speakers who aren't familiar with the band. So we'll see if my name change gets accepted. If it isn't, I may bring up the issue in more detail in a moderator forum, so that they understand why the longer title is unnecessary.
As for 'Chu Chu Song,' we can technically assign the song to a single, but it will still show up under 'Other.' EPs show up, but not singles.
But the thing is, we usually favor albums (even live albums) over singles for assignment purposes, and since the live album came out before the single did, assigning it to the single would really go against the guidelines. If it ever gets put on an album, then we can change the assignment to the album, as we do favor studio albums over live albums.
I have succeeded in reassigning all the songs you mentioned except for Bakuro Book. I’ll have to think about how to approach that one due to the title problem you mention.
Thanks for the info. The problem may be that most of the people on the admin team can't read Japanese, so I decided to make the change manually, rather than making a bulk edit.
As for the other songs, I will reassign them manually, as that doesn't involve making a request. One problem is that Musicbrainz writes the songs in a variety of ways, so depending on how they are written on the albums, I may have to make some changes over there as well. Another problem is that Okoshiyasu!! Otoboke Beaver is listed as an 'Album + Compilation' on Musicbrainz, which may be discouraging people from assigning songs to it. The thing is that yes, a lot of those songs were featured on previous EPs or singles, but that's something many bands do, without having the albums labeled as 'Album + Compilation.' And of course Itekoma Hits is the same thing, but is listed as a normal album. Basically, it's a big mess over there, and I do want to be sure that any changes I make match Musicbrainz... so in some cases, I may need to change things on Musicbrainz myself, which takes time.
On that topic, I frankly, I wish the songs that don't already have English phrases as titles or have English titles embedded in them would just be changed to Romanized Japanese over on Musicbrainz, as some of them end up being long and awkward English sentences when translated. Most of the Japanese titles are much more concise. I could change them myself, but it would take a huge amount of effort that I don't currently have time for.
Wow, cool you added the songs in the English language. I only have a written setlist with Japanese characters!

Hey Lemming, I was able to save the entirety of the livestream of Shimane Jett Fes. I saved Otoboke Beaver's set for you so you can figure out the setlist
