RE: Queen. Sorry I do not have any mementos of the concert although I did have a "program" from it for awhile but lost track of it when I went off to college. I was ~13 and I bullied my dad into taking me (he tried very hard to get someone else to take me, but my older cousins who could drive begged off - their loss). I will never forget the Freddie in a spotlight in the dark opening of We Will Rock You, We are the Champions (which was played much later), not as a duo like on the radio, Best Friend stood out and Bohemian Rhapsody which was clearly about 90% taped. I think Freddie did about 4 costume changes.
I may have been able to smuggle a small Instamatic camera in if I could have hidden it in my clothing. They really checked inside purses. However the small camera, especially from a distance, did not take really clear photos.
I'm sorry that I have no pictures or recordings of QUeen in Detroit Michigan in 1977. There were no cellphones then, and cameras were forbidden inside the arena for concerts. Thanks of your question and hope you are well.
Yes, I saw Queen twice, in '77 (Norfolk VA) and '80 (Charleston WV). Both fun nights, although I think I enjoyed the earlier show the best. Sorry, no documentation, I was a kid living in the moment!
Yes I saw Queen at the Spectrum in 1977, and earlier that same year at the Philadelphia Civic Center with Thin Lizzy opening, but I don't have any pics from the show. It was a few years before I got my phone :)
Good Morning: If you want to see a band that has the spirit of Queen with FM, then go see he Struts. They are fantastic live and Luke Spiller sounds like FM.
Yes, I did go to the 1977 Queen show at the Providence Civic Center. I actually did take some pics but they're not too great. I've checked the set lists for some of the other shows on that tour, and I think I really lucked out with what they played that night. It was a memorable show.
Hi: I wish I had some type of footage of the 1977 Queen show I was at. All I have are the memories.
Have a great day!
I have no recordings or picture from the Queen Show in 1977 but thanks for asking. I was young and did not have a camera. It was my first concert so I remember a lot of details that would not matter. I know I was amazed as I had never seen a rock show and as a kid, it was overwhelming.
I saw Queen May 1978 but have no recordings
Hi - yes I saw Queen in Portland Maine in 1977. We were very lucky as all the major tours seemed to either start or finish at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
The concert was amazing. One thing I recall was there was a giant crown covering the stage which rose up at the start and there they were! Freddy had his half length mic stand was very entertaining and energetic.
No pix, vid or audio and I assume the setlist is correct. That was a long time ago and I was in HIGH school
I was lucky enough to see Queen with Freddie a few times, but the one you referred to, in Manchester in 1979, was particularly memorable because at the time I ewas a stage-hand at the venue...so it was free!
As always, they were fabulous but, sadly I have no recording nor pictures to back up that statement!
I enjoyed the Stafford gig and if it is the one I am thinking of, the atmosphere was superb and the audience sang You'll Never Walk Alone before the encore, which is what inspired Queen to write We Are The Champions.
Not got any pics or audio.
Hiya, re your comment on the Queen concert I attended I have no personal photos or audio, but in Birmingham, we used to have a record store called Reddingtons Rare Records and they used to send a photographer to gigs, then sell them in the store the following weekend, sure I have some in my attic. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the gig, I was very disappointed with the gig and the sound quality was awful (it was before the NEC had a proper arena and was in an exhibition hall). As a result, I never went to see Queen with Freddie again (something I now regret) but have seen them a couple of times with Adam Lambert, with their last tour being one of my top 20 stage productions I’ve seen.
Sorry, I do not have any pictures or recording from 1977. I do have the QUEEN News Of The World Concert Tour Program Book USA 1977 packed away, I haven't looked at it in years, but might be fun to dig that up again.
