Multiple shows in a day give bad search results
Posted 5 Jan 2017, 20:04:08
When an artist/group have more than one event in a single day a search for the specific event on that day returns all events instead of just the one requested.
Example: Sundara Karma played 2 shows in Chicago on Nov. 23rd 2016 – 1st at JBTV Studio, 2nd at Bottom Lounge.
When searching for the exact Date/Artist/Venue the API returns both shows.
http://api.setlist.fm/rest/0.1/search/setlists.json?venue=jbtv-studio&date=23-11-2016&artistName=sundara-karma
Can this be fixed to only return the exact match?

Sorry for the late reply:
The parameter “venue” is not supported
Use either “venueId” like this:
http://api.setlist.fm/rest/0.1/search/setlists.json?venueId=3bd6c09c&date=23-11-2016&artistName=sundara+karma
Or “venueName” like this:
http://api.setlist.fm/rest/0.1/search/setlists.json?venueName=jbtv+studios&date=23-11-2016&artistName=sundara+karma

Ahh, my bad. Thank you for the reply. I do see it working when I use the venueName parameter.
Does this parameter need to come first? I“m getting “Not Found” when venueName is put at the end.
Thanks!

Hi michi, I'm seeing the issue that caused me to think placement mattered… I was trying a different event and it showed NOT FOUND. Issues is with the Venue Name having “The” to start but not in your system.
Specifically “The Empty Bottle” in Chicago, listed as just “Empty Bottle” in setlist.fm. What's the process of correcting venue names? Can we request here or is there a formal section?
Thanks.

Venue name corrections should be posted to the Problems with venues topic in the website support forum.
