Tool to Extend 2020 Fear Inoculum Tour After 12-Song Oceania Wrap

It’s been quite a few months for Tool. Not only did the alternative legends release their first full-studio album in over thirteen years, but they also embarked on a seemingly nonstop world tour. And although the band just ended its Oceania run in New Zealand, it was recently announced that their 2020 travel has been extended.

Deemed the Fear Inoculum tour after the album of the same name, Tool’s world tour has hit nearly fifty cities over the span of five months and is now set to make its way back across North America through the end of June.

For a band as visually performative as Tool, you can only imagine the production behind such a trek. No, really — imagination is key.

Since the tour kickoff back in October, members Justin Chancellor (bass), Danny Carey (drums), Adam Jones (guitar) and Maynard James Keenan’s (vocals) have remained adamant about curtailing the social media buzz around the shows. In fact, the guys even banned the use of recording devices at every venue.

Luckily, that ban doesn’t always take full effect as a few sneaky fans have found a way around the rule.

Fortunately, while there may not remain much visual evidence, our setlist data proves that the Fear Inoculum tour is not one to miss. And their Oceania tour wrap in Auckland, New Zealand is just another prime example of that statement.

As expected at any Tool outing, the setlist is relatively unpredictable considering the Los Angeles natives' tendency to alter their sets from night-to-night. And although that’s fairly common of many talented bands, with traveling visuals alongside the main act, it takes commitment for a band to change their sets as often as Tool.

Off of Fear Inoculum (2019), Tool performed a handful of recent hits during their Oceania tour wrap including “Fear Inoculum,” “7empest,” “Pneuma,” “Chocolate Chip Trip” and “Invincible.”

Of the rest of the album, the only track the band has performed live that didn’t make its way onto the final setlist of the month is “Descending."

Leaving room for plenty of content amongst the rest of the 12-song setlist, Tool threw in a variety of hits off of the remainder of their musical repertoire including albums like Undertow (1993), AEnima (1996), Lateralus (2001) and 10,000 Days (2006).

Focusing on a few key hits, Tool ended the New Zealand double-header, and ultimately the Oceania tour, with some of their most-played songs live like “Schism,” “Parabola,” “Forty Six & 2” and “Stinkfist.” Talk about a few crowd-pleasers.

Considering the recent tour announcement, there is obviously still time for fans across North America (and hopefully beyond) to catch Tool live during the new year. Check out a full list of Tool’s Fear Inoculum 2020 tour dates below and see LiveNation for ticketing information!
