'The Fest' took over the Florida based college town Gainesville for 3 days this past weekend. Established in 2002 with only 60 bands, four stages, and two days, the festival has grown throughout the city, now including multiple venues and a stacked punk rock lineup. The best way to explain what it's like to attend Fest, is to compare it to being like South By Southwest, if SXSW and The Ramones music video for "I Wanna Be Sedated" had a love child. Music is happening everywhere throughout the weekend whether it's at a venue, at a house show, in the hotel lobby or even the hallways of the Holiday Inn.

The Fest 16 bill included bands like Against Me!, Hot Water Music, Superchunk, HUM, The Movielife, Teenage Bottlerocket, Mom Jeans., Worriers, Binary Heart, Iron Chic, Meatwave, The Flatliners, Pkew Pkew Pkew and many many more.

In addition to playing Reinventing Axl Rose on the main stage at Bo Diddly Plaza this year, Gainesville natives Against Me! played a 'secret' set at The Wooly on Friday night. The band played with their original bassist Dustin Fridkin in a 700 cap venue, the setlist loaded with deeper cuts. "We Did It All For Don" and "Armageddon" made live debuts, plus "The Politics of Starving" and "Scream It Until You're Coughing Up Blood" made their first live appearances since 2002.

Against Me!'s set at Bo Diddly Plaza the following night was on the main stage to nearly triple the capacity of their unannounced show. The band kicked off their performance with tracks from their newest album Shape Shift With Me and White Crosses before diving into playing their debut album Against Me! Is Reinventing Axl Rose.

Against Me! wrapped up their headlining set with "8 Full Hours of Sleep", something no one at Fest experienced this passed weekend.
