I don't think one setlist is enough to prove artist intent. I think you need either a statement of intent from the artist, or a pattern across many (or all) of the artist's official releases.

That being said, I'm tired of dealing with this, so I just went ahead and changed it to "Stop The Bus".

However, sternfeld was the one that changed it to "Stop the Bus" in the first place. You might want to make him/her aware of this discussion so he doesn't accidentally change it back.

Hi LM ( is LM ok?, figure we're on a nickname basis by now :D)

Haven't had time to make a case study for NBTW yet, but, by using upper & lower case for a change, Grace provided "artist's intent" for Stop "T"he Bus in last night's setlist.

Here is the photo she tweeted .. http://pics.lockerz.com/s/279543997

Thanks for Crazy On You .. my respect for your work just took another jump.
I might be able to find some of Grace's older setlists before everything was done all in caps, but Nothing But The Water has rarely been spelled out by just about anyone, NBTW is almost always used.
Am headed off on a music weekend, but will look around when have some time - insomnia attacks are good for that sort of thing. :)

I can only speculate as to why the guidelines are the way they are; I don't write them, I just follow them. The guidelines are definitely not perfect, but I guess when you're dealing with a large user-maintained database you need a concise policy to ensure consistency and the ability to resolve disputes.

You're definitely right regarding Crazy On You, I went ahead and changed it.

You also have a point about Artist's Intent. But, Artist's Intent can be difficult to prove, and the burden of proof lies with the person requesting the change. So, if you think such proof exists and you're willing to take the time to post it, please feel free.

OK, so it's not how the band named the song on their CD .. or how they list it when they write it for however they wanted to emphasize the words in the title ... it's some guy's arbitrary decision as to how English should be applied to song names .. and that carries over to Wiki which is Never wrong about anything - except when it is.
Got it.

Thanks for the link ... although I couldn't help but notice that Heart's "Crazy On You" fits nicely with the samples shown under Exceptions.
Also read the section on Artist's Intent, which I do remember reading before now that I see it again .. http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/Style/Principle/Error_correction_and_artist_intent

Long time fans who care about the wishes of the band they love really shouldn't be list monitors I guess .. especially if might have OCD tendencies. ;D

Regarding capitalization, if you read Setlist.fm's guidelines you will see that we use the capitalization standards from MusicBrainz.org:
http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/Style/Language/English

Thus, the correct capitalization for the songs you mentioned are "Nothing but the Water" and "Crazy on You" according to these guidelines.

No worries, do whatever you want. To be honest I really don't much care anymore.
Ended up being the volunteer monitor after GPN's acct was set up because no one else wanted the hassle, and after the past few months of dealing with new fans who know jack about the band's history, neither do I. The guy who put Chesney's set as a filler when GPN opened for him was a big clue .. have to admit it was funny as hell though.
I'll still put up the basic show shells as back up to GPN's own board archive until I can con, er, coax someone else into taking over. As far as the setlists go .. if Grace puts up the setlist or have a taper capture, I'll post it.. other than that --whatever.

Thanks for refusing to change Paris btw... much appreciated.
Used that as an example of being able to have some control over names with a young band who is very skeptical of using setlist.fm because of the wiki edit thing. Think they should, but I'm not willing to monitor another account so not sure if they will.

According to the Setlist.fm guidelines, the songs should be listed as they appear on the CD cover:
http://www.setlist.fm/guidelines#setlistSongnames

Therefore, it appears that "Nothing but the Water (I)" and "Nothing but the Water (II)" are the correct titles:
http://i46.tinypic.com/2qmemol.jpg

Wikipedia and Amazon also agree:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nothing_But_the_Water
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00138HA9M/

If you can provide documentation to the contrary, I will certainly change them back. But it appears those are the correct titles as defined by our guidelines.

Thanks for putting up my short notes for the Austin shows on the boards. Will stop by there soon; wanted to write a review of the shows in Austin. They were both electric.

JJoyce is a new fan and has No historical knowledge or standing to make that request and I will PM him on the GPN board.
measarts is GPN mgment and I take my direction from him .. please check with one of us in the future ??

The GPN change was requested by user JSJoyce on the forums, so you'll want to take it up with him/her.

The only way to flag an "on purpose" difference would be to use @Info, or to post a comment to the setlist.

" Lollapalooza, Grant Park, Chicago, IL " is not the correct format according to the guidelines.
http://www.setlist.fm/guidelines#venues

It is denoted as a festival with our new festival feature.

It's possible too that Bennie played 2:22/Over the Hills and Far Away/Crazy on You's acoustic intro.

Thanks for checking in. The spot I had for Original Soul was the end of the acoustic set. It was "Nothing But the Water I." I had that out of order. I moved the Unknown to the slot I had Nothing But the Water I originally. The first encore song was an acoustic solo. It did sound like 2:22 after listening. Bennie then transitioned into "Over the Hills and Far Away" then back into the 2:22 sounding song. It's possible that they played 2:22 in the unknown slot if you heard that they played the entire song. The acoustic solo went into "Crazy on You."

just testing to see if notification is turned on
