Awesome show - I would have rather heard Middletown Dreams (from the alternating setlist) or Limelight, which they put in a couple of times instead of The Body Electric, but other than that, this was a classic show.

bryanr72 November 29, 2012 7:42:50 AM UTC

I'm so disappointed. They didn't play Closer To The Heart, Fly By Night, Freewill, or Limelight.

deajr November 29, 2012 2:33:26 PM UTC

Brilliant show! I was quite happy that they overhauled the setlist.

jmbinfo November 29, 2012 3:04:35 PM UTC

The show was "ok". Great start and great end. The middle became very boring as we were forced to listen to new song after new song and you could tell the crowd as becoming restless. I guess the record company in the end gets to choose most of the songs. Very disappointing not to hear Limelight, Freewill, Fly by Night, Closer to the Heart and a host of other popular RUSH favorites.

Thought the show was great!!! People are complaining about older songs not being played more. We have heard these great songs multiple times before.. I'm glad they picked songs they haven't played in a while!! And , remember this was THE CLOCKWORK ANGELS TOUR... So , if they decided to play nearly the whole album ( which I think is great) , so be it .. And , remember is a concept album!! And, sheesh .. Got three drum solos !!!! Awesome!!!

bryanr72 November 29, 2012 3:51:37 PM UTC

"We" may have heard all the old songs, but "I" haven't. This was my first time seeing RUSH.

They played well over 20 songs....closer to 30. Seven of them could have been the hits that most of us know. That still left over 20 for the entire "Clockwork Angels" album.

Not a smart move on their part.

stubob November 29, 2012 4:04:22 PM UTC

this was my first time seeing rush and i had no problem with the song selection. would i like more 70s stuff, sure - but that was the band's choice, and nobody elses. this tour was for the new album, which is pretty good. wait 2 years and you'll get another 'greatest hits' tour.

Zaber November 29, 2012 6:25:34 PM UTC

You have to remember that they're touring in support of the new album - they always do that with a new album. Snakes and Arrows tour had 7-8 new songs just 4 years ago, remember?

And yes, they went with a setlist of deeper cuts, which was refreshing to longtime fans who have seen them many times. Face it - there are fans who only want to hear the classic hits, and then there are the fans who are tired of hearing the same songs played over and over and over. It's the same for any band.

Next time, I'd suggest you check the early setlists before buying tickets and make an informed decision. :)

There are about five songs that they keep rotating between evenings. They played Limelight at the Vegas show, which was the first time they played it this tour. I LOVED seeing most all of Clockwork Angels performed. True fans already know the music. Can't wait for the DVD.

jmbinfo November 29, 2012 6:56:40 PM UTC

Its not like this is a new band...this is a 40 year old super band with 40 years of hits. I can see 3 or 4 new songs max but you can't discount that the majority of their fanbase wanted more "hits" and less Clockwork Angels. Its the same with any of these "older bands". Van Halen came thru town and played 2-4 new songs but knew what their fanbase wanted. Obviously we all knew what they were going to play based off the setlists here. And yes, the Greatest Hits Tour will be awesome.

jadmart November 29, 2012 8:41:44 PM UTC

Remember - Rush has always done their own thing. They march to their own drum (no pun intended). That's what we love about them. Those that only want the classics should not attend tours designed to highlight current albums. TRUE Rush fans are just glad to get another chance to see their favorite band. Yes as a whole the older stuff may be more popular, but since when has Rush worried about this. I for one enjoyed the fact they played not only the new album (which is good), but some other songs they haven't played in years. Here's hoping they come back to Dallas because I'll take what I can get while we still can...

n2chiles November 29, 2012 8:42:12 PM UTC

I saw them in Seattle and by the middle of the second set Geddy's voice was going. I don't think he could do more of the 70s stuff he has to go way up in his register that is not there any more. The newer stuff is easier on his voice and I think that's why they are not doing more of the older stuff. In the 2112 encore he was screeching most of the song.

Pineal2012 November 29, 2012 10:26:34 PM UTC

Great show!!! And anyone complaining about them playing nearly the entire C.A. album can go home and listen to whatever you like!!! "Clockwork" is the greatest album in years, and deserved to be represented in its full glory!!!

wright166 November 29, 2012 11:14:34 PM UTC

I agree! I don't understand people who are grousing about Clockwork Angels being performed at this concert. It's one of the very BEST RUSH albums EVER and it deserves to be performed live. With the way they've alternated numbers between evenings they will have played every number except BU2B, which they played during TM tour. With them taping the Phoenix and Dallas shows, all the songs (except BU2B) will be on the DVD. I am sooo looking forward to that!

bryanr72 November 29, 2012 11:33:29 PM UTC

I didn't mind them playing songs from Clockwork Angels. But play the hits too. How many people do you think we're at the AAC? How many were Die-Hards? How many thousands were left wanting to hear the hits ALSO?

RedBullet November 29, 2012 11:49:03 PM UTC

I really enjoyed the show and I didn't miss some of the over played material. Instead, I listened to an overdose of Clockwork Angels over the summer and fall and I was looking forward to them playing as many of those as they wanted. Most of all, I was freaking thrilled to see them again like the time before that and the time before that....add another 15 times.

bryanr72 November 30, 2012 1:29:22 AM UTC

See, you're a Die-Hard. Of course you didn't mind them skipping some songs you've seen many times. I get that. I'm the same way about KISS.

But not everybody has seen them. RUSH is an awesome band, and new people get into their music each year. You have a lot of people going to see them for the 1st time or 1st few times, and hasn't been exposed to the obscure cuts yet.

Let's say there were 20,000 people last night, and I will be generous and let's say that 5,000 were DIE-HARD FANS...I mean the type of fans that know what Geddy' Mom's middle name is....and do not mind the hits being passed over, cuz you've seen them in concert 156 times.

That means that 75% of the building, in one way or another, we're disappointed because one or more of the greatest hits were not played. If you are only catering to 25% of the audience, then you failed. It's not smart.

Like I said, they played close to 30 songs. Seven of them could have been the hits, and still had over 20 to play Clockwork Angels and other obscure stuff. Cater to both fans. Play new & obscure for the Die-Hards, and play the hits for the majority of the fan-base.

It's a simple concept, and they disappointed me last night.

stubob November 30, 2012 1:52:26 AM UTC

if you want to be 'technical' about it, last night was a greatest hits show, plus the new album. that is, if you go by billboard charts as your definition of 'hits.'

wright166 November 30, 2012 2:38:30 AM UTC

I EASILY count 7 hits in the set list above..Subdivisions, Analog Kid, Far Cry, Red Sector A, YYZ, Spirit of Radio, 2112.

...And now I'm going nutso because I do not know Manya (now Mary) Rubenstein's middle name. I have failed.

pizzaguy December 1, 2012 1:03:06 PM UTC

The setlist on this tour lacks balance. Of course Rush has to play some songs from their new CD but it is TOO heavy on songs after Moving Pictures and severely lacks songs before Permanent Waves. In Cleveland, they sold out the last tour playing the entire Moving Pictures album, this tour, they did not even try to sell tickets in the upper bowl. Rush is simplying throwing a bone to the fans they gained after SIgnals which is cool as long as the older fans know this is the theme.

I took a pass on this tour.

JayP December 2, 2012 6:14:28 AM UTC

At the AAC, if you heard someone 'suggesting' anything from Moving Pictures, that was me. Long time fan, first time caller. I expected a good show and got it. I was a little meh with the new stuff because I'd never heard it.

I went with a pal who was happy to have heard Tom Sawyer. The 3 dudes in front of me were clueless about "Where's My Thing". One was wearing a Roll The Bones shirt.

I enjoyed the hell out of the show. About 3 hrs for Dallas but I'd been there 6 if they could do it. Next time they make it to DFW, I'm in the audience.

MomentMe December 30, 2012 5:14:44 AM UTC

They didn't play 2 of my most favorite songs. But they still rocked! Check the photos here http://moment.me/n/302777.
