Rob Thomas may be known as the frontman of Matchbox Twenty, but the singer-songwriter actually has an illustrious solo career and is currently on the road in support of his latest project.
2018's Chip Tooth Smile is his fourth solo album, and his first since 2015's The Great Unknown. The album dropped in April and spawned singles "One Less Day (Die Young)" and "I Love It."
The first leg of the tour kicked off May 28, and features support from Abby Anderson. Thomas just announced that he'd be adding a second leg that will kick off in August, with support from Max Frost on select dates.
Thomas' average set has consisted of 18 songs and a two-song encore. He’s been playing originals like “Fire on the Mountain,” “I Am an Illusion” and “Funny” as well as Matchbox Twenty songs “Unwell,” “3 A.M.” and “If You’re Gone.” He’s been closing out the show with a cover of Santana’s “Smooth.”

May 28 – Red Bank, New Jersey
On the tour’s opening night, Thomas took to the Count Basie Center for the Arts in NJ and put on a 16-song show with a three-song encore of “Smooth,” “Pieces” and “This is How a Heart Breaks.”

June 4 – Indianapolis, Indiana
Thomas added “Real World ’09,” “Hold on Forever,” “We Were Beautiful” and a cover of Matchbox Twenty’s “Unwell” to the setlist at Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn in Indy!
The only fan footage I could find from the performance was this clip of “If You’re Gone,” and I must say, it’s a GEM.
