Hi! I noticed that you saw Queen in Dayton in 1977. 13 minutes of 8mm footage have recently come out, so it would be great to know whether you or anybody you know managed to tape the show. Thanks in advance.

I remember his solo was early in the show and the drum solo was not on God of Thunder. It was on Nothing to Lose or maybe Watching You. They had a cloud with lightning bolts. Don't think they much but light up during God of Thunder.

Wow, that's an amazing memory of the Dayton concert! KISS had an odd lighting system for that tour. They had these three tall constructs that were designed to look like the big high-tension electrical towers you see from time to time. And at the top of each of those towers was a spotlight operator.

I assume you didn't sit on the tower (the platforms on top were too small to support maybe more than two people)!

What a great vantage point you must have had for the gig.

Do you perhaps recall a strange device that KISS used for that short tour called the God of Thunder machine? It sat on a scissor lift platform right behind Peter Criss's drum kit. It would have looked like a box (maybe four feet tall and two wide) with a giant 8-foot circle of metal and a huge copper tube in the center. It was an enormous Tesla Coil and during Peter's drum solo it rose up in the air and shot lightning bolts from the tube to the giant circle. You would have had a perfect angle to see it.

Thanks for sharing your memories.

Hi there,

I was hoping to ask you a couple of questions about the August 8, 1976 KISS concert you attended in Dayton.

I'm trying to figure out some details of the band's setlist that night.

1. Do you recall if they performed the song "Hotter Than Hell" at the concert? This song had not been performed on the tour at all, and if they played it in Dayton, this would be its first known appearance on the tour.
2. Did you or anyone you know take photos or record audio/video of the show?

Thanks!

Jeff

Thanks for checking in on the REO setlist at the Riverbend Festival. Festivals are assigned to locations, in this case Ross's Landing. Then they are all linked together. I changed it back, check it out:
